Guys I'm paying 14 bucks for hosting but all of my sites are white hat... I'm thinking about downgrading to a baby plan for like 10 bucks a month...

Is this really a good idea.. I currently have 20 white hat sites going and adding more every month...I don't really see the difference between the business plan and the baby plan. the only different is the ssl and dedicated Ip stuff... I'm not sure if that's even important... I have around 8 static site that take payments via clickbank and the others are wp blog...

Can someone tell me if it's wise to downgrade since all of the packages offer unlimited domains...

I would not go baby because the unlimited urls are under a sub-directory of the main domain which can be a negative for SEO. For $4 why risk it?

Save $4 or get downgraded??

You will lose $4 in revenue due to traffic loss.

A no brainer really.

yes i recommend you to not downgrade the plan! $4 a month is nothing.

Same here! Do not downgrade!

If you are already creating revenue, rather think of working on additional traffic, improving copy or graphics to increase the income.

Plus not only do you have the SSL, but also a dedicated IP, which is very handy protecting you against someone sharing the IP with you, doing a bit of spamming and getting all of your sites sharing the same IP blacklisted as an "extra bonus".

Especially as you're adding new domains, you may need more features and/or processor power to create traffic and hostgator may not be pleased with that at all at baby level.

And as a comparison - i just set up an account for my frient at ultrawebhosting - it was $135 for THREE years if you do a lump payment. Ultra unlimted account.

You can downgrade and order dedicated IP for $2/ month

Downgrade I would recommend. $4, nothing? LOL, of course $4 has its own value. And you can't just throw it for no reason.

Ask yourself, do you need the toll-free number or the ssl? No, I would guess. You might be inclined to have that dedicated IP which you can get for like $2 per month with the baby plan. That's savings of $2. May not mean anything to some people, but one should respect his/her money.

How is it different in the business plan? Plus, the chances of being negative for SEO are very little. Just make sure you don't access the website using the main domain's sub-directory or build any links to the main domain.

Or if you are really worried, just block the sub-directory in the robots.txt of main domain. Or possibly have the sub-directory redirect to the addon domain using .htaccess.

What does downgrading has to do with loss in traffic?
