Host website on your own computer

If you know what you are doing and it is a closed network it is possible but if you knew what you were doing you would not have created this thread. Short answer is it is a no go. If you are avoiding the hosting because of illegal purposes using your computer would be just a bad idea.

If your getting lots of traffic then you should be making money and you should be able to pay for a good host.

what you are suggesting is like a taxi driver deciding to build his own car.

DDOS will kill you man. hostwinds is telling you the truth

1k/1k......

Im pretty sure a rooted android phone, and a curl infinite loop could successfully DDOS you....

I know my phone gets 30Mbps/30Mbps

Read the thread and here's my response.

It seems like you opened the for advice yet you're rejecting the advice. So this thread is pointless.

Like everyone above me has said, don't host it on your pc, even if it's badass and fast. If you can afford a badass computer and a high electricity bill then you can afford a decent dedicated server.

There's everyone's advice summed up. If you're going to reject it then this thread should be closed. Take it or leave it.

Where will the bottleneck be? What differs a "hosting" machine from a household computer?

The thing is, I doubt that I'll get the disk space and bandwidth I need for a couple bucks..

You have just answered you own question with this post!

If your planning on using XAMPP, using Windows and don't know what DNS is, you shouldn't be hosting any websites publicly on your local machine.
