So I've been using Hostgator for a few months now and until lately they have been good but these past two weeks have been hell. I'm writing this in hopes that people will read this before using host gator as a warning. Also, I'm wanting to find a new reliable hosting that wont jerk me around like HostGator has. First I'll start off by the first issue.
I got a DMCA complaint.
This is totally my fault and I'm not blaming them for why I got the complaint but I am for the process after.
So I got the complaint and was told to fix the issue on the affected site. I don't use the site anymore and thought ehh f@k it ill just let them take down the site and not worry about it. WRONG! It was probably written that they would shut down my whole hosting somewhere in the Massive email I got but I guess I didn't read that part lol. Like I said up to this point I'm not blaming them this is me. But I fixed the issue after them shutting down all my sites and then also got an email confirmation from DMCA Complaintee and sent that to host gator. After this, I notified HostGator of the correction and after countless chat sessions, I was able to get my hosting back online...... That was until they shut my hosting down a second time within 2 days of my site being back up.
SIteLock Being equivalent to the mafia...
So now my hosting is once again shut down... I got another email regarding why it was shut down. This time it was due to malware infection or something. I contacted them today on chat and also with a phone call. In this phone call, they tell me all my sites are infected and that they need to be manually cleaned and this is going to cost me $50..... I tell the guy my fiance is pregnant and that I don't have money to pay that right now and ask if I can just wipe all the data to my sites and use a backup for the main site I want up and running. He tells me no and that this won't work and to call him back when I can pay for the site cleaning. This blew my mind... Now they won't unsuspend my hosting cause of this infection and I can't do a thing about it unless I fork over $50.
Like I said I want this to be a warning message to people looking to using Hostgator for hosting in the future. Also, I wanted to see if anyone else has had similar issues with either of the two providers.
If you know of any good hosting please let me know I'm just tired of this nonsense...
