I completely understand your point and i DO agree with it .
my counter point is .. that is all well and good for 1 , 2 or 5 articles
how about when i am ordering 300 ? can i not expect a better rate ?

i even hired guys with prompt payment , guaranteed monthly work ..

ToG

I kind of understand your frustration. I worked a long time on freelancer com and I saw many genuine employers getting pissed off because of multitude of problems. People pretending to be native, or even if they are native they are just lazy and disappear off. But then I recall a few writers who wrote very very high quality stuff. But then again, their charges were like $13-$15 per article.

The very simple reason is that there are just too too many content writers and if I am correct, more than 70% of these writers are meant for link building stuff, not high quality.

Another thing is when you order 300 articles all together, its kind of a messed up game. There are very very few content writing teams who will offer good standard in a short amount of time. I have not idea about writers on BHW, but I think there should be good ones here. Maybe message a moderator requesting that you need help in this regard.

The only suggestion I will give you is, always always make sure you provide a sample of writing to the writer so he knows what you want. This way if you end up with bullshit stuff, you can always get back your money. Sometimes when I hired people on freelancer, I also got duped by idiot writers, and I made sure I corner those bastards by raising a dispute and get back some of my money.

Another suggestion would be to break those 300 articles into shorter batches, lets say 50 and hire responsible individual writers. Also, don't always trust ratings, (if you plan to hire on a platform other than BHW). I hear oDesk dot com is a great place. They have very strict rules for content writers.

Since I feel your pain, feel free to PM me if you need help regarding anything, especially how to find good writers on freelancer.

to muscleteen

I almost skipped your response
going by your reputation on BHW i think it would be appropriate to say

muscleteen does not write articles , the letters get scared and arrange themselves automatically into articles , when muscleteen looks at the screen

I know there are writers who charges at a very cheap price but you can surely get an honest, reliable and dependable article writer if the price is right.

Frank but honest:

You aren't paying market rate.

Almost certainly your problem is that you're paying way too low for the quality you expect.

Look, a skilled native English speaker can go to a site like Textbreaker and make between 1.4 and 5 cents per word. And that's not even close to a professional rate.

If you aren't at least matching the highest paying content mills then you have nothing to offer.

I'll add some perspective, as others have done: I routinely sell 500-600 word articles for $49 each. For that the buyer gets a well researched article that is cohesive, free of fluff and grammatically perfect. If you are expecting the same thing for $5/500 words you have your head in the clouds. Sure, you might get lucky on this forum and find someone starting out who will work for a low rate, but they won't stick with you. You'll be in a never-ending search for someone who doesn't value their own time. That's not a great relationship to be in.

One thing to consider is that the past year has seen an increase in demand in quality writers because of Google's notorious Penguin updates. Increased demand means increased prices. It's simple economics.

As far as bulk rates go, yes and no. If you're dealing with a single person you might get a bulk discount but you'll be waiting a long time for the articles to come back to you. Same goes for a small team, really. Someone has to edit all of the completed work before it's sent to you. All of this takes time and time = money. It's no different than any other job.

If you go with a site like Textbroker or iWriter you'll be paying a flat fee per word but you'll get the articles much faster.

What you'll never get is 300 quality articles for, say, $50 or something like that. It's just not going to happen. Anyone who offers you that is talking out of their #$#.

If quality is your main concern and money isn't actually an object I'd go with Constant Content--but not for bulk orders as this would be prohibitively expensive.

Really ? hows paying market rate not the correct price for over 300 article job ? please enlighten me

Simple. Your demeanor seems to indicate that you regard "the market" as a static system, where prices always stay the same for a particular product or service. Market price is always influenced by supply and demand, and prices fluctuate constantly. Besides that, there is a big difference between "the market" price, and the price a particular individual pays. Just because conventional wisdom says a particular service goes for a particular price does not obligate anyone to deliver that service for that price, just because "everyone" thinks that's what the price should be.

Myself, for example. Just two days ago, someone offered me $20.00 to write an article. Maybe they thought they were being generous for that offer, and that I was supposed to be grateful. After all "the market" says $20.00 is a good deal for the writer.

But not this one. I don't take a dump for $20.00. $20.00 is chump-change. Rather than running around and jumping for joy at the seemingly exorbitant offer of a whole $20.00, instead I decided that I'd rather not even continue the conversation. Nothing personal, but I really don't want to talk to people that think that they can have any measurable amount of my time for $20.00. It's not worth screwing around with. If it's a $20.00 job, I'd rather do it as a favor, and for free, on the idea that maybe someday that favor may come back to me at least an order of magnitude larger. Like $200. Or $2,000. But $20.00? Meh. If you think my work is only worth $20.00, then you may as well hire someone else, because it indicates to me that you have a fundamental lack of respect for the mind that's behind these words, and that mind is worth a hell of a lot more than $20.00, and I don't associate with people that lack the ability to appreciate that. Sometimes, when people rub me the wrong way, my price doubles. To hell with "the market". I call it my "pain in the ass fee", and I require that one in advance.

So. Hypothetically speaking, what gets me interested? Maybe $200. Depends on who you are. If I like you. If you like me. Etc..

Please note the total and complete absence of any reference to the "market price" in any of the above. People have the power to say "No.", and they can make choices. If you can't get a service performed at a particular price, that means that everyone that you have solicited has made the decision that you are not going to get it (their service), and there's not a thing you can do about it. When 10 people tell you "No.", there's a good chance, the next 10 are going to say the same thing. When 10 people fail to meet your standards, what makes you think that #11, #12 and #13 are going to do any better? That's a whole lot of people telling you "No.", you know.

What's the market value for being obtuse? Is anyone paying for it? Or is that being given away for free?

aha Finally a long email to get into arguments with internet guys :)
market is by definition a place to trade good/services at agreed upon price .. so if someone DISAGREES all they have to do is .guess what ..drum roll please .. NOT RESPOND/PARTICIPATE

and when you say its not static .. are on the NYSE here ? i am willing to BET 100$ with you the "market price" of articles has stayed around 1-1.50 $ for the last 6 months.
lets not get confused as to what the "market " we are talking about here .. we are not buying google shares and facebook stock options etc

Sorry no words to answer that ..since i have never been on such a high horse

Finally we are getting to the point .. did i say any one them said "no" .. ? thats the EXACT damm problem i am trying to figure out
and i agree with you .. a simple NO would be much better than , getting the order , giving false promises , and then delaying delivery by a few weeks , and then send me crap

>What's the market value for being obtuse? Is anyone paying for it? Or is that being given away for free?
Dont know ..figure you might enlighten me :)
