Hello the great community,
I have few questions and something to share with everyone. First let me ask my question.
1) Can I use those themes that don't allow homepage links or that do not have the ability to show homepage links..
My Personal experience
You can call it a case study, but few days ago I made some links that were not homepage links but links in the inner pages with exact match and partially matched anchor text.
And with just 1 or 2 links indexed, that test site has moved from 4th to 3rd spot.
I have even heard Matthew Woodward saying in one of his training videos that you need to be random with theme selection.
By that I suppose that he means that one can also use themes that cannot show homepage backllinks...
Moreover, In my opinion that when you are creating links with long tail or partially matched LSI anchor text(For example, if Payday loans florida is your LSI, then anchor this "Best site for Payday loans in Florida" is partially matched LSI anchor text), then you can put them before the read more tag... But if you're using exact match anchor text or long tail anchor text with the main keyword in the link, then making the link only in the inner page is helpful rather than putting it before the read more tag.
The reason is that when you put exact match anchor text before read more tag, it not only creates one but 3 links in majority of cases. One from the homepage, one from the category page, one from the blog page... And if you had tags, then you have even more links with exact match anchor text.
That can burst penguin, why? Because you have now 4 links with exact match anchor text and to dilute your anchor text profile you now need to create at-least 15-20 branded or URL links.
In most cases people don't do that since they only count that one exact match link as ONE link, in reality there were 4.
So I have tested this a couple of times and this worked for me... Put exact match anchors or long tail exact match anchors after read more tag and put branded, URL and partially matched LSI anchor text before read more tag.
Moreover, if I also found that putting long tail anchor text with exact keyword one time or maybe a couple of times can be very helpful.
But putting exact match anchors or long tail anchors with exact keywords in it before read more tag every time can do more harm than good.
I am sorry if it's getting complicated.
One another reason why creating homepage links can be a little bad sometimes is because when you put read more than after the first paragraph, and the link is inside that first paragraph which barely had 100 words, then you are creating link from thin content.
I hope you understand what I mean...
And if you say you have 5 or 6 other blogpost down the order, then they might have different topic and they really don't matter or confuses Google when it crawls ur homepage.
For example, if your homepage has 5 blogs... first one is about payday loans, second one is about weight loss, 3rd one is about dog food, 4rth one is about drones and the 5th one is about doctors in florida...
And every blog contains 1 link after the read more tag, then it confuses Google that what the page is about...
This can confuse Google and maybe those 5 sites lose the link relevance...
Remember, Link relevance is very important...
