Home page ranks articles don't

Hi everyone

Something strange I've noticed is occasionally I will publish an article on my site, while the article sits on the homepage (shows latest articles), the home page will rank well for the keyword (low comp) then when it drops off the homepage the article doesn't rank. It is indexed and it appears when I limit a google search to just my site.

What's going on?

Your internal link is not well done. For google the home page is the most important page and all pages linked from there have more boost. Looks like when is not linked anymore from the home looses its relevancy for Google... Enough for loose rankings. You’ll fix that with better internal linking...

Right. Some thing in the internal link juice are wrong.

Thanks guys. At the moment I've got links from the homepage to categories (indexed on google) in the navigation, then links on the category pages to the posts. I've submitted sitemaps to Google. I'm not currently interlinking between many posts. Nothing is jumping out as wrong, any ideas?
