when i type - site:my home page - in google.
my home page appears 9th!
it used to be number one like all my other websites.. any ideas?

It's maybe because of the recent updates in Google's algorithm. Not sure which part of your site got hit, but you're not the first one to experience this.

There was a big update mid March targeting, Mobile search results, optimizations, how fast your webpage load on 3g.

Google are cleaning search queries that are not needed anymore for example : "What is the time in Chicago" instead of search results with different websites that shows the time, you'll get Google clock script, that way they'll save up time for those who seek for a certain information! its all about delivery! so same with other niches, if you have a big competition your first competitor will get stronger, and the lower quality results will be wiped or removed from 1/2/3/4 pages!

2018 March, Social signals + Quality web traffic are back again, google now collect your user information on how they interact with your website
if you can find traffic that can go through pages on your site with a very low bounce rate could be a key recovering back.

But google confirmed! there is nothing we can do about those changes, even a deep re-work of an affected website won't lead to any positive results if you are de-ranked, all you have left to do is wait for few weeks and see if things are settled for you!
