Hi all, I'm new here but I'm not too new to facebook so i know a little bit, but after spending the first day reading some of these posts i see that there is a hell of a lot i don't know.

I have at least 100 groups and 100 pages all sorts of niches and was wondering how they are ranked and displayed to people who search for them.

i know that a few months ago groups were ranked based on size but now your lucky to get what you searched for back let alone having them in order. Thing is i have the largest groups for a few top notch keywords yet when i search for them i rarely get them back as results, i get groups that have like 53 or 200 members when my groups are named the exact thing i search for and don't come up when they have 10,000 or more members, well in any case they are the biggest and they don't come up when i search for what they are named.

Does anyone know why this is?

If you actually go into /search.php and try to search, you will not get the largest groups nor the most relevant groups.
However, if you are quick_searching, from the top search bar you will be presented with the largest group/page and/or the group/page which the highest amount of your friends have joined that is still relevant to the search criteria.

i.e. John has 10 friends, a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j are their names.
a,b,c,d all like "I hate eating breakfast" - It has 1,000,000 people who like it.
e,f,g,h,i all like "I hate monday mornings" - It has 200,000 people who like it.
j likes "Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate" - It has 4,000,000 people who like it.
When John dos a quick search for "Hate", the first result he will see is "I hate monday mornings", however this may take a few seconds for it to load as it is crosschecking against his friends. The next result would be "I hate eating breakfast", followed by "Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate". After this, the largest groups/pages with the word "hate" in them would be displayed.

I know this, simply from prolonged use, you start to notice trends and then once you notice the trends you want to find out if the trends are correct.
Simply try it for yourself, and you will see pages with the most friends liking it loaded upon the top results whilst you are quick_searching.
