Hey

I've started a blog about whatever my hobby is. I plan to do basic SEO, linkbuilding, perhaps buy something on the marketplace.
I know I need to rank for certain keywords related to my niche/hobby, but what happens when I do? How should the position in SERPs be used to my advantage, that is earn me money?

I've learnt that I could earn by using Adsense or Amazon Affiliate. When I use adsense, I put ad slots in my articles/pages and wait for people to click on them? Are the ads chosen automatically by google/my CPC network?

Can I combine adsense with amazon?

If these questions have been answered somewhere else or it's a wrong subforum, please let me know. Thanks

Well if your hobby is about how to grow ripe, juicy strawberries in the winter time, I don't know if that is possible, then you write an e-book about it. You can start by writing a small free report in exchange for your target audience's e-mail address. And then through e-mail marketing you will have more opportunities to persuade them to purchase your e-book from your website. Or you can offer it for sale on Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, etc.

Yes you can combine Adsense, Amazon, Clickbank, etc.

I caution you against flooding your site with too much advertising. You need to focus your visitors attention on what you want them to do.

Without knowing what your niche is, I don't know the best way to monetize.

If you go the Google Adsense way, are the Adsense cost per click sufficiency high to make it worth your while. Are there many advertisers? Are the ad's being targeted properly?

Would it be more worth your time and efforts in reviewing products in your niche?

Adsense is good when you have a decent daily traffic to your blog. As someone suggested, since the topic of the site is something you're passionate about, you are better off creating a product of your own and you can market it to your audience. Also, don't miss out on building a targeted list as well.

You can combine ad-sense with amazon if the the Amazon affiliate product link is similar or relevant to your niche site.
