Damn. I did a website for a local business. I signed them up to HG through my own link. Didn't get credit for it. Anyone else have this problem?
Whenever I have got people to sign up to HostG via my affiliate link, I have always got credited and never had any problems. I think Hostgator rocks hands down!
You signed them up yourself on your computer? Or you gave them the link to signup? If you used the same ip as what you normally use, that would be the issue.
I sign them up directly though the Hostg*tor affiliate program. I dont go via CJ. The I.P. address would definately cause a concern but I doubt you would have done that right?
Monty - Are you using ZonaAlarm (or any other AV program) and have set you privacy level to high? In that case it will not create a cookie on your machine and there is no way HG can track your conversion.
Not using Zonealarm. Yes, I bought a domain name and a hosting package for a local business with my own PC and IP. I plan on doing this pretty often so you would think that they would take that into account. I ran it right through the HG aff program. I don't think I used a coupon code. Very strange.
You're saying that if someone uses a coupon code and signs up under your affiliate link that you dont get the credit?
I think the IP is the key here Monty. I think maybe contacting Hostgator and tell them what you are doing. This will assure them that you are not trying to defraud them in any way. They dont know you like we do. We know your trustworthy but they dont
I am pretty sure that using coupon codes is not the problem because this is one among the questions that i fired to hostgator before joining its affiliate program
When I click on my aff link, it doesn't take me to an 'order' page. It takes me to the home page where you choose your package, etc. Hopefully, they're smart enough to not let that be a problem. Yeah, I guess I could call HG or just sign these businesses up using that Hide-My-Ip.com software. That's good stuff.
Yeah if you change your IP address, then at least you will be more sure it will work without a hitch.
You could always just order AT&T DSL Lite for $20/month, just for that purpose. It's about 768k, which is fine for surfing the web. Plus you get a new IP every time you connect.
I use CJ for HG. I have always received credit, but they have a 60 day hold...they don't pay til your referral has paid for 2 months of service. I'm not sure if they do a 60 day hold with the in-house program, but you may wanna check. .
