Hiring a VA for Upwork proposal submission?

Hi guys,

I'd like to take freelancing on Upwork more seriously but my major deterrent is having to scroll through many job posts. I don't have the time so I'm thinking of hiring a VA.

If you've ever tried this, what's your experience hiring a VA to submit proposals for you on upwork?

Also, did you have to give the VA your login details or how did you go about it?

Make sure you pick a VA you can trust.

Remember: they are freelancers too.

What's stopping them from having a buddy or family member set up an Upwork account and funneling opportunities work they find for you to their other account(s)?

I do this. It's very effective. The key is finding a trustworthy VA who is quick in submitting bids and responding to job invites. What is your budget to hire such VAs?

Depending for me to be honest, I am not sure what VA's usually go for but I would do $XX-$XXX/week for sure to up how many proposals get submitted from my company. I have gone as far as making a custom bid platform that connects to the api of a jobsite for internal use but haven't hired a VA yet. What do you pay yours?
 
You should find a reputed company that provides VA services on BHW. Then their managers will know how make you feel satisfied and safe for your project.
 
I tried that once, it was helpful. But it was long ago and looking for VAs myself now.

As for the fear of what's stopping them from starting their own work, well nothing other than the actual skill. Say if you're a graphic designer, your VA can't do much getting graphic work for himself. His skill actually is doing the VA work, which he'll be doing for you.

Tip: Get him on a percentage of the amount of project won and it'll be even more effective since he'll be more motivated to win better projects. Although that naturally means lesser profits for you. The flipside is; if the VA isn't smart enough and greedy, he'll just bid for high-priced projects regardless of the competition there and most likely end up losing the bids if your profile isn't strong enough.

This arrangement works wonderfully. I split a straight 50% with someone who started as a VA and is my partner now.

That is great to hear! For our knowledge, where did you get your VA? Back then I got someone through freelancer and later on procured someone locally. But it's been a while since that. Wondering where's the best bet to look for nowadays?

She's a friend I knew for two years. She used to work in sales for a company in UAE, and was very good at selling on the phone. I trained her to sell (pitch / close clients) on Upwork for a few months.
 
How will you pay for it? I mean if you have a free account you only have like 50 or 60 points per month and most are 4 or 6 points to bid so that is like say 10 to 15 you can bid per month so that is 1 every 2 days why can't you do it?

But if you hrie are you going to buy the points?
