Well I feel like telling people what happened to me yesterday because it was quite shocking.
I'm up up in Michigan doing my internship for the summer. Most housekeepers working at hotels come from Europe, and luckily most of them are girls. So yesterday I took two of them over the bridge to the upper peninsula. While there I didn't know where exactly to take them. So i take out my GPS and look at tourist attractions...nearest one some St Marie State Falls..."would you like to go see a waterfall?" i asked the girls..."sure let's go, we have nothing else to do we might as well go somewhere." Drive for 45miles and then we hit a toll post. I pay $2.50 and drive thru...GPS loses signal. Next we have to stop at another toll type of thing. The lady there asks: "Passports please". I told her I only have my US license and only one girl had her passport on her, the other had no form of ID whatsoever. I asked why do we need passports and it turned out we were in Canada....wtf mate. Took us in the lobby and gave us papers saying that we were denied entry and they said we should get back in the states but we might not. So we drive back to the first toll: "Passports please"...i explained the whole GPS story and a very unfriendly non-smiling guy told me that we are at risk of being arrested and getting deported. Took us to the lobby and they started looking up our names to find out if we are legally in the US.
As if this wasn't bad enough, they go check my car and come back: "Who's car is this?" Me me ... they take me outside: "You know you're fully responsible for what's in the car?"...fuck, i already knew what they were talking about. I used to smoke weed and never cleaned the car so there were seeds and stems all over. They told me about them. I told them i used to smoke but i quit before i got the car...that i only had the car for couple of weeks and never smoked in it (bullshit)...but my friends may have etc. I told them there are no 'buds' nor any smoking devices. Three unfriendly guys came and said they will go check the car and have a canine test. They open the trunk and again i think to myself...might as well arrest me now, i had an 18 case of Corona. BUT luckily i left them in the girls' fridge before we left so they would be cold when we come back from Upper Peninsula...not Canada. The empty case was still there but they didn't seem upset by it...they never did the canine test and came back and told the others that the car is clean (nice).
But for two hours they treated us like illegal immigrants, infractors...until they were finally able to find out that we all are legal residents in US and let us go!!!!!
