Highest paying freelancing jobs (advice)

Hey, I'm a newbie in college, and I don't specifically need money right now, I'd rather learn a skill and practice until I can make profit from it. I don't want a quick cash method. I want a full time job. What could I learn that would help me making money online? Programming, maybe making bots? It would be great if someone could help me out, any help would be a great, thank you!

Yep, programming would be good. Or you could take up writing, and be good at writing persuasive sales copy.

Coding is the highest paying freelancing job. But if you learn coding you would be able to take some exams and get a good fulltime job as well.

Don't be perturbed by writing. It really is a good skill to have. Take things one step at a time and read up good blogs. Perhaps hone your skill as a blogger?

Maybe, I'll take it one step at a time, I'll probably get better with writing as my years pass in college, hopefully.

Also html is incredibly useless by itself, you should be able to learn everything about it in a couple of days. Unless we're talking about html5 which is so vast and complex you'll need years.

Either way I'd recommend going for something more mainstream at first like Ruby (not ruby on rails) Java or C#/C++/C

Thanks, I actually know basic c++ too, would you recommend sticking with this instead? What exactly could I do after learning these languages?

To be honest, although none of it stuck, and it's been years, Python was relatively easy for me to pick up, and that was without me having any type of programming background. With John knowing a bit of the basics of a few languages, he may do well with Pythons. Also a thing I would note is that, maybe learning more than one language at a time isn't a good idea unless you have a specific use for both languages, i.E Learning them both without using them immediately, may cause you to confuse the two (or atleast it did me this way) specifically because of the structure of two language can be completely different. Anyhoo, just my /2cents. Best of luck with you John.

If you already know C++ then you're doing pretty good. At this point you could easily jump on Java Programming languages are very alike with only a few differences between them. I'm talking about languages that basically do the same thing. I think you'd be very good off if you'd started gathering a portfolio of a few personal projects. Like a mobile app, a web app that does something useful. It doesn't have to look great -- it just has to work. With that you can claim you already have 2+ years experience programming and get a decent job.

Programming jobs pay extremely well and people are always in need of programmers. Almost everyone is hiring almost all of the time.

HTML alone won't do a lot good for you, you need to learn at least CSS, Javascript / jQuery and server side scripting (like PHP) to go with it.

I've started Java now. I'm interested in app development etc, so I think I'm going to stick for this for a while a see how it goes. I really appreciate all the input. Thanks!

The real [skill gain] is in the js algorithm challenges and the projects.

You'll find out for yourself how much you 'really know' when you're staring at a blank text editor.

The gitter community attached to fcc is also very helpful. Think of stack overflow but with live chatting.

After completing program you'll have a nice collection of web apps to show off for your portfolio and solid proof that you know what you say you know.

As a developer myself, I can say easily this; it is hard, very challenging and you need to keep learning. It is best to choose one language and stick to it. It is better to be master of a language then be good at or know 5 languages.

Core Java is fun, good to play with but when you actually have to work on an app building, things starts to get complicated. Threads, GUI (swing, fx or perhaps others) for Win / Linux / Mac os, Android, Websites (Spring framework is the best) other platforms each have their own unique ways to handle stuff.

All in all, it takes years to start getting good at one language that is if you work on it full time. I have been a developer since 1998 and I still learn new stuff.

When it comes to development and such it is best to choose a language and an area and stick to it.

If you want to keep at it, you have to love programming and constantly learning. It is a technology area after all. If you give up for a summer holiday or such extremely long vacations... When you'll get back to it and check what is new, you can be like "what the f*ck happened?" Perhaps most important of all, don't give up. Things might go slow in the beginning (first year or so) later things might speed up then you could hit a rock bottom such stuff happens a lot during first 5 years (full time) even after that. Important thing is to never give up. Especially in the beginning, never loose hope.

If you think you can't handle all that stress, constant learning etc. Writing is the next best thing and it would be hell a lot easier to get better at it even as a part time / spare time blogger you can become a good writer. I have seen many, many examples of this but never ever once I have seen someone becoming a good programmer with half time / spare time works.

It is best to choose what you'd like to do earlier. Earlier the better.

is it pay good? yea sure. does it worth it? NO. you have to work for every single penny that you get !!!
no kidding, the amount of work and effort you need to put to reach that level is insane, and even then you still have to work hard for it (considering you already have clients and portfolio). plus you can't do programming for ever after a certain age you just can't do it anymore, it will break you and you will stop.

you want to learn some thing so you could make a lot of money for ever? go learn advertising(ppc,ppv,cpm). master this and you won't need anything or anybody for the rest of your life.

I probably wouldn't go into the advanced coding, I might just learn the basics of a few and maybe it will help me out with some stuff. Idk. If you mean CPA offers, they've never seemed to work out for me. I try them on and off, but I don't think they suit me.

trust me it does work, it just isn't that easy.
put the effort that you want to put on learning coding into this and you will see the results.
it will take you at least 1 to 2 years to become a normal coder so you could earn good money from it.
put the same effort on the aff marketing and you will be half way into making millions.
with aff marketing or cpa, if somebody tells me they are making 5k-10k a day, I wouldn't be surprised at all. but you tell me you are making this much from coding, my eyebrow will rise and I will look at you as if you are Pinocchio.
