I've been running Ads on a couple of my videos as a test, and although I was hitting a fair amount of views on the videos, I wasn't getting the interactions I would have hoped, with some of the retention being minimal and thus dragging down the overall retention as a whole.
I'm still in the stage of building the channel, and refining the thumbnails closer to what seems to work with the niche whilst also keeping it original to my own designs but I fear without the retention ratings currently, the likelihood of hitting Suggested Videos and Browse is lower than I was hitting previously.
Is it worth just starting getting a few modest (at the stage was planning just the minimum of 500 HR Views) and couple that with some real interactions, will that be enough to start hitting some suggested & browse lists on YouTube to then draw an audience through that, and is that more sustainable long-term than ads that videos have hit a wall once I ended the ads?
