My competitor owns a blog empire of over 200 blogs in pirate niche that all rank in google, new domains launched every 3 or so months.

One thing noticed that stuck out to me is...

He usually waits 3-6 months to build his first back links which is inline with the google inception date historical data patent which says back links to a fairly recent document (web site) are highly unlikely and may easily be considered spam)

His earlier projects that dont rank nearly as well as his recent years projects are blasted with up to 20kRD and have alexa 500k.

His sites he waited from inception time rank alexa 20-40k with only a few hundred backlinks.

His anchor styling is always the same variations usually aggressive, and his sources are repeated.

I really believe early links hurt a site or are discounted at best.

Thoughts?

Nice catch! I would like to take a look at such a domain who does this kind of practice. Mind sharing the domain in DM if it's ok.

The strategy is quite straightforward but I am always excited to review such kind of PBNs boss!!

Sure thing man.

Its not a PBN its actually a network of money sites.

search stuff like

IDM crack
Adobe serial number

you will see all the wordpress blogs are similar, have the same affiliate links and usually some pakistan connection.

He runs the first 10 pages + on google with anything that he posts.

That's why I said "PBNs Boss"

Wow that's super interesting.

Oh, my understanding of a PBN is a blog network used to juice your money site(s)

this guy's empire's links come from 3rd party sites he blog comments etc on. although yes he ocassionally links from one of his properties to another but not often

I posted this to potentially save probably 90% of people time. Everyone advocated building links immediatly but from reading patent and field tests of my own as well as studying competitors links before 2-3 months are hurtful

I agree with that statement, it should be avoided to build link until site is completely out of the sandbox and completes a quarter of time online with activity.

you seem to be in tune with this ;)

the patent says,

"For example, it may be assumed that a document with a fairly recent inception date will not have a significant number of links from other documents (i.e., back links)."

In math and programming language, significant means any value other than Zero.

Even 1 link has held me back. New sites need to gain exposure and readership for the earned links google wants to be acquired and appear natural.

Even 1 link too early can be easily seen as manipulatively built by the owner.

Honestly, sometimes Google has no idea what it's upto!

some sites just escape the grips of the evil penguin and get slapped down later.

in general, its good to follow this protocol though for long lasting and efficient gains ;)

this guy ranks blogs for years the ones he waited with.

This is how ive been treating all my new projects. i have 60 domains on standby aging with content on them ;) i will work on back links for some after 3 months mark, a set after 6 months and some even longer to test this.

Every project i began link building from week 1 went nowhere... and ones that did never lasted long or reached anything too impressive.

I had a blog 3 years ago i built zero links on because i was too lazy, it attracted a natural link after a year from a very weak domain and suddenly began getting 700 organic clicks a day for a year until i tanked it by adding too aggressively to it...

This may be one of the most truthful and time-savings threads for the BHW community ;)

Yea indeed. People need to understand this hard truth that there are lots of things in SEO apart from link building.

Yes, you still need to take care of your site's on-page seo, have extensive content and work on any canonical or technical issues to get all that stuff in order.

Link building is still the dominant factor for ranking. but...

It is about timing your campaigns so that you don't appear as a spammer or link builder to the algo's and the evil penguin.

We want to look natural. Black hat these days is basically the appearance of White hat ;)

I would try checking those domains with a hidden backlink checker. He is probably hiding something. If you want, I could check those domains for you for free.

Sincerely,
The Data Scientist
