High PR useless now?

I was reading it a few times these days. People saying "Don't look for a domain with High PR. PR is not important anymore.".

More important is DA/PA and Trust Flow? Actually two days ago I bought some PR3 domains also with other good metrics like TF/PA/DA etc., but are the PR3 domains same with the PR0 or PR1-2 domains for the rankings?

It would be nice if someone could explain to me whats up with that?

Before I thought: As higher the PR (and other good metrics ofc) as better and faster you get ranked.

from experience DA/PA could give you fake result alot of spammy banned sites have high DA/PA .
same thing with PR sometimes show fake value .
the only way to make sure is doing manually BL's check to see soec links comes from legit sites or not .
if you want buy expired domains best place to stat is GD auction you could be lucky and catch some real PR sites .
BTW new G algorithms not cares anymore of numbers of BL frew BL's from real Authority site could give you boost never Imagen in SERP.
 
It's quite simple: PR is outdated. That means if we had a PR update today, a PR5 site page could become for instance PR1 and a PR0 page a PR4. That would make the PR0 page stronger than the PR5 page. Hope that makes sense.

What he said.

PR itself is still king - just that we have no way of knowing what any given page's PR score is. Making it effectively meaningless to us.
 
You could use it as part of your criteria, not to rely upon it exclusively. If it were updated regularly, you would not need other metrics.
 
I still look at it when looking for quality backlinks
 
PR is still relevant.

What is irrelevant is the PR published by Google and estimated by some sources and the PR shown to the public.

Internally within Google PR is still the chief ranking factor. But PR is no longer a simple metric of links. It is related to niche, topic, semantic meaning and so on.
 
Even before they stopped updating it, PR was a poor metric.

You could outrank PR 4 or 5 with n/a or 0.

Therefore what actually did PR measure? Hee haw as far as I'm concerned.

I disagree. A PR 7 website/page, might have become a PR 5,6,7,8 website/page, but if the site structure hasn't changed significantly, it is probably still a great backlink or domain. Sure, there might be some outliers which dropped to PR 3 or even less, but if your sample size is big enough, it's pretty safe to assume the winners and losers cancel eachother out, so it's pretty irrelevant.

And let's be honest. All those external metrics like TF/CF/DA/PA are basically worthless. I know most of you will disagree, but I have researched tens of thousands of expired domains and while there is a correlation between (genuine) PR and those metrics, it's so rough and imprecise it makes them basically worthless to use.

Of course, in the long-term future it public PR will become essentially useless, especially for the smaller PR<5 websites.

What I have seen is to solely look at the backlink quality of a domain.. if they are of a very high quality your wbesite will shoot up in the ranking... have been testing it for more than 7 months.

Disagree with this as well. The quality of the domain is only important to pass link juice to the individual page your backlink is on. If the link is on a back alley, it's as worthless as any other generic link.

I always chuckle when people pay hefty sums of money for domains with backlinks from pages on CNN or BBC which pass no link juice at all. I'd take a PR 4 backlink from a PR 5 domain over a PR 1 backlink from CNN.com page any day of the week.
 
I check lots of metrics like Mozrank, CF , TF, PR etc to know the quality of domain. Now a days you cant go with single metric.
 
It's not useless. We just don't know whether our site is high PR anymore or not.

As already mentioned though, the PR we see is quite different to what is actually used to rank any indiviual page.
 
As far as I know, PR is still very much useful. If you are unsure whether the PR being displayed has dropped or not, use third part metrics like PA and TF.

I agree with you there however PR is only one of many ranking factors and not a particularly big one.

I have never chased PR and on the one occasion that curiosity got the better of me one of my sites was PR 1 on some servers PR 0 on most. That never stopped me being number 1 in the serps, beating a whole load of 3, 4, 5's.

It's an ego metric rather than a ranking metric, it makes people feel good, but doesn't do a whole pile more. Obviously some links are quality and speak for themselves, and may coincidentally have a high PR, but some high PR sites are just screen vomit with a couple of high PR backlinks.

That! The current PR of pages/domains is not public information so we can only assume.

I am relying on PR of links from authority sites leaning on the fact that those links are aged, the authority domain (for example huff post) has increased traffic overal from the last time google updated the public PR, so the public PR value is either the same now or higher. It's not perfect, but combined with other metrics like majestic/DA (which are sometimes way off) you get a good picture of what a domain's power is.

At the moment, the only real way to see how much Google values a domain is to see how much traffic it's getting.
