You can never go wrong with using private proxies. You can easily break even with the monthly expense of using them on scrapebox or other software that warrants them.

list = boo boo when you get it its 90%dead - whats left is 50%codden/planetlab (yes even one nonpl lists)
vpn - never used it

Just bought VPN, wish I knew about it before... great stuff

Hide my Ass VPN solution is the best thing I have tried in a very long time. Now I feel like I've been living under a rock not knowing about that.

HMA VPN is the way to go !!!

how does the VPN service work ?
this is what they say
One price: 90+ servers, 9000+ IP's
Each connection = new IP
OpenVPN + PPTP included
Free HMA! Pro VPN software
30 day money back guarantee

so each time we connect to the internet it acts as a new proxy automatically? or is there a frequency we can set ? like change ip or proxy every 10 minutes

just trying to figure out how i can use it with my software :-)

yes you can have it change ip every "xx" minutes which is great!

I think that this is a pretty good service. But, it all depends on what you plan on using the proxies for. They work better for some things than they do with others.

It's great, I'm using it right now! Way cheaper and better than private proxies for something like senuke.

Where do they get these proxies and who are the owner of these proxies? Do they actually own and manage these proxies on their own?

I purchased a month sub for HMA VPN and was really dissatisfied. The site I was trying to use it for saw through the proxies and it was a complete waste of my money.

Edit: Not trying to rag on HMA, their services are good, just not for what I was doing with it.

I'm thinking about purchasing HMA. Worth buying 1year in advance? More importantly, someone said you can stay on one proxy for xx minutes and then go to the next. Though after you go onto the next, are you then able to go back to one you were on before?

My personal opinion is , yeh its pretty good

atleast works for me

abyssal_miss, Was that a Blogging site, or "web 2.0" that saw through.....? Just curious

KraftyKyle, I have been using the VPN with HMA and it's TOP notch.
Using a VPN is slightly slower than private proxies, and I still use PP with SB for speed.
Using the VPN with senukex and it's sweet, because as you mentioned you can setup
HMA to switch proxies after so many minutes. It's very effective, and the yearly is much cheaper.

Really, I will probably start outsourcing SB commenting and cancel private proxies
and just go with the VPN. Then use shared/public proxies for checking links etc.

Cheers

Just figured I would chime in here in case anyone was 2 cents short of a dollar...

I am using VPNuk and I am extremely pleased. You share with no more than 10 users at any given time and I am not experiencing any lag at all when scraping. Just for what it's worth.

Can you specify which state or region you would like the VPN IP addresses to be from?

Example, can you say you want only Los Angeles locations?

Hi persyme, Yep you sure can. It's got settings for geographic IPs to choose
where you'd like the VPN to route though. As well as options to automatically
switch the IP. It's pretty sweet.

Hope that helps

HMA has a spectacular client, great speed, and TONS of IPs. The more off-grid server locations work pretty good with okay speed too (Russia, Singapore). However, HMA is NOT secure for shadier activities, not by a long stretch. On their forums they constantly dodge questions about where servers are located (to be in safe jurisdiction it should be somewhere like Martinique, not the US or even Europe). They keep logs and apparently cooperate with warrant-bearing authorities (again, we can't tell -which- country's warrants and laws it might be under). As far as services go, PRQ of WikiLeaks fame is the most secure but lacks most options avaialbe with HMA and others. Honestly it depends on what you need it for specifically and how black your hat may be.

Specifically, it was Topixdotc0m

If you're not familiar with that site, when you post it shows your location under your username, what I needed was to mask my location to another location. Regular proxies work for this but HMA's services did not.
