Hi

I wrote a little app in Java that should automate everything I need to do on twitter. I'm wanting to know how to automatically change my ip every x minutes.

ProxyFirewall was my first attempt at doing so but I can't seem to get it set up right. Should I be trying to control the way that C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_13\jre\bin.java.exe connects to twitter? Also, where can I buy cheaper proxies. Packetflip seems a bit pricey.

I attempted to get a list of proxies using charon but in win xp x64 when I tried to load in a list of proxies, the program did nothing. When I tried in win 7 x64 then a green bar appeared then the program crashed.

Any help is really appreciated. I've been really excited to get my first campaign up and running. I've been writing the program non-stop for a few days and I think I can be profitable. This is (I think) the last hurdle for me.

Many thanks in advance,
theJuice

alright, I'm gonna try to use the built in Java proxy capabilities. I thought I could shortcut that but alas...

Did you already check out my thread ?

It has an API you could easily integrate into you app, you'd not have to care about IP rotation, randomness, ip testing, high latency issues and similar stuff.
All you do is call the "rotate" command and your IP will change, register accounts/etc then call "rotate" again and you got a new IP.

One problem you might encounter is that you already wrote an application but did not think about proxy abilities upfront!
Check out if the HTTP commands you use (or do you use TCP sockets?) already support using a proxy.

In your case I'd have used this for java http programming:
http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/java/ (http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/java/curl-java-0.2.1.tar.gz)

Curl is clearly the "market leader" for a long time ;)

Thanks for your replies. I was able to get the program to auto-rotate proxies. I got some proxies from packet flip. I'm wondering how much activity should I be doing per proxy. Is 5 accounts (adding 200 friends per day per account) reasonable or too much?

I agree, I've tried many tools and Proxy Firewall is the complete package

Are you running an x86 or x64 version of Windows Vista?

Proxy Firewall won't work properly with the 64 bit version of Vista. Proxy Firewall is an absolutely amazing tool BTW... I use it constantly.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 so that's why it's not working. I'm gonna pick up another cheap comp soon and run xp x86 on it. Should simplify a lot.
