A few days ago I've contacted Hi5 sales department regarding the potential media buy and this is the answer I got:

Hi,

Thanks for you interest in advertising with hi5!

We offer standard banner ads at the moment in the following placements:
Homepages 300x250 - 9.00 CPM
Member Profiles 300x250 - 7.00 CPM
Friends & Photos (728x90, 160x600) - 6.00 CPM
Run of Site (300x250, 160x600, 728x90) - 4.00 CPM

Banners can be targeted by age, country and gender (e.g. all hi5 members in Germany ages 18-34).

We have a 10,000 minimum budget requirement and I can provide creative specification if you would like.

Please let me know more about your budget, start/end dates, creative requirements, marketing objectives, etc.

From here, I can draft a custom proposal and prepare our team for launch.

Best,
-Brett

Doesn't their CPM seem very expensive since their traffic will most likely be just as crappy as Myspace and Facebook.

ouch. thats pretty high for pretty much ALL sites.

noone pays the rate card tho. Im fairly sure I read somewhere facebook is making 10c CPM overall, so they've gotta be taking some discounts somewhere (altho FB is now self service, that may have changed things)

The $10,000 budget is atrociously high...

Also, has anyone tried the other social networks like Bebo and Friendster?

That's a load of shyt. That type of traffic is no where near worth those CPM prices listed. They're hoping your a big unexperienced advertiser. They probably pull in lotta suckers like that. Plus the 10k min budget is so by the time you start noticing the traffic doesn't convert you've already had your 10k mistake on your hand. Quality and confident advenues will never have such high requirements since they know you'll be back after a taste of their work.

That could work.

I was thinking that google was being a greedy pig.

I would never, ever pay that much for CPM... EVER.

Not even Wal-Mart charges you that much !

Besides hi5 isn't that great anylonger I mean they've been infultrated really well with spambots and ewhoring..
