It’s just the perception of practice
It may be a small handful but the 1% of the vocal redditers will be crying about
"if they are willing to hand it over, your private data ain't safe"

Telegram released about a year before signal
It is also much harder to make people adopt to a new messaging platform as it is
Especially when Signal came out very bare-boned compared to telegram (or whatsapp/messenger)
Further, Telegram had a lot of misleading campaigns misleading users thinking everything was e2ee when it really wasn't.
And imo, telegram was alot better marketed than signal ever was; public word of mouth is a huge plus especially in the communication genre.
 
well, there it goes, it was just a matter of time before this could happen in this world there is no privacy toxic goverment :suspicious::D:D
 
And this will be just the beginning... it's how it always starts.

Cops have all these users saved, hundreds of thousands or possibly even more, and Durov will give them all up at some point.

All those guys who thought it would be safe to sell drugs via Telegram will get it sooner or later. VPN can't hide you anymore either so the number of people who will get busted for things they did perhaps a couple of years ago will be staggering.

Most are already moving to Signal though. And the post mentions it only happening in US. Luckily, US isn't the whole world yet :D

so what about privacy, the police hate you and they call telegram asking for your messages oh the law, there are no regulations or anyone can ask telegram to peek at anyone's messages
