my advice: read, read, read. work, work, work. just like anything else, you get what you put into it.

Check out this thread where I posted some common acronyms, so that you aren't lost in all the abbreviations.

Read the sticky posts and see what the forum is all about. There are a lot of good posts in the Making Money section, but look for members who have been around for a while. Be cautious about someone with 30 posts telling you he's making $100/day after 1 month of work.

Learn how to use the search button and how to use google to search the site. Sometimes google is easier.

Use this string in Google, just replace keyword with your phrase
    Code:
    keyword site:blackhatworld.com
Don't start a post to ask a question unless you've already searched and found nothing. So don't ask things like "Should I buy Scrapebox?" or "Do autoblogs make money?"

Read and take notes. Pay attention to what senior members have to say. Test things for yourself, make your own opinions.

Take action. Read the tutorials on how to do keyword research and then take one of the many methods out there and try it. Build a site. You might fail at first, or later even, but you will learn.

And above all else, never ask to be spoon fed.

Try to watch out for information overload. People tend to get hung up and paralyzed by the wealth of good and bad information out there. You will get to a point where you have to do something.

I would suggest making a site that you would actually have an interest in after you have done your keyword research. It might not make you rich, but it is easier to write about something you actually like. Polish your skills on that site and then expand.

Also don't think that any of the tools are must have when you start off. Work your way up. I bought some tools that sat for months before I was at a point where I was even ready to use them.
