Hi! I'm a bit new to BHW. Just had my little success and I decided to share it here and hopefully inspire other newbies like me.
So here's my story...
I've been studying IM for almost a year now. The first few months that I had was a disaster. I didn't know where I was going and I was somehow confused about what really works with IM. Everyone was telling me "the money is in the list!" "the money is in the list" so my first few months with IM I focused my efforts on listbuilding, creating squeeze pages, free reports, and affiliate marketing despite the fact that I didn't have any talent in writing. I also hated writing in English. I remember the last time I wrote an article for my school project I got rejected because of my poor grammar. Anyway, back to my story, after a few months of working with a blindfold I realized that I was going nowhere. I created reports and emails and I just thought to myself that I have little chance of success with what I'm doing. I am no writer and I'm really not an expert with the niche that I was promoting! so stopped doing it and looked for other ways to make money.
So here's the thing...
I studied my weakness and looked for a better way where I can make money. Hmmm... I have no talent in writing so I thought of making mini websites. I don't have to write reports and emails (which is too time consuming) and it is easily scalable.
I started creating micro sites in May.
1. Researched for niche keywords with EXACT MATCH of 1500 to 3000
2. Looked for sites with the weakest competition. I didn't pay a lot of attention to how many competition (i've looked for keywords with less than 100,000 competition in phrase match) but I've carefully analyzed the top 10 sites on page 1
3. Created 3-6 pages sites and used the keyword as the domain name. I've used the google wonderwheel for LSI and sprinkled all of the keywords in my articles.
4. Promoted with article marketing (Ezine, blogger, and squidoo - just one article from each), blog commenting (My IP is now banned by akismet - stupid I know), social bookmarking, and profile linking.
5. For backlink indexing - I posted ALL of my backlinks in my autoblog. I have a few autoblogs to make myself feel cool but actually they're not making any money. However, I think they're really helpful with my indexing. According to statpress my autoblogs are being crawled by 300-600 robots everyday so I think it's cool. This is important especially for profile links.
I started with 4 sites and then the next month I created another 4 sites - too slow?
and now... here are my results after 3 months of working...
1. I've got 5 out of 8 sites on page 1
- 1 site on #1 spot
- 1 site on #3
- 1 site on #4
- 2 sites on #5
the other 3 sites:
- 2 site on page 2
- the last site is seen nowhere
So far.... I've got 3 sales from clickbank! not much but hey, i just got most of my sites on 1st page this last few weeks. so i think the sales will start rolling in this month (hopefully)
So here are my tips for my fellow newbies...
- If you dont have talent in writing start with micro sites too. I'm focusing most of my work on backlinking. he he. you can then easily monetize it with clickbank, cpa, or adsense.
- I find .org really powerful. I think they rank better than .coms!
- Be patient! I?ve got my first weeks having little to no improvement. Actually I wasted half a year earning nothing. He he. So just be patient! Success will come eventually.
Questions for the BHW masters...
1. one of my site isn't making any sales at all. It's been 1st page for a month now (#6) and #1 for another keyword. It's in the dating niche promoting eben's DYD. I'm just getting leads and no sales. Would it be smart if I just monetize it with adsense instead? Is it okay with the big G? I mean it's not considered as adult right? I know it's a stupid question but I'm kinda nervous that it might get considered as an 'adult' site even though my content is all about dating.
2. Am I having a slow progress? I mean 3 months and just 5 sites on page 1, is it too slow? I'm thinking I've hit the 'hard to rank' keywords. I've been seeing some posts here that are making 1 site a day so am I stupid or something?
I?m dying to expand my efforts. I want to start my own team and I also want to purchase some monster tools like scrapebox. The only problem is I don?t have any money to invest. I?m a fresh grad from college and the first thing that I did was to build my online business.
p.s. if you can notice it I have a newly registered name. I hope it's okay with the mods. i'm just being careful as my last username has my footprint in it. hope it's okay :israel:
p.p.s. thank you so much BHW. you changed my life. if my money starts rolling in i'll try my best to give back to the community!!
