Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself! Sorry if this gets a bit long, doubt anyone cares but it's worth writing out.
I'm 35 from the UK, I spent the last 10 years managing an Amazon marketing agency, and the last 5 or 6 before that doing internal SEO at a trophy, medal and award factory (lol, random I know).
I'm experienced in Amazon marketing and SEO, parasite SEO and PR, regular SEO and linkbuilding, and content writing.
At the agency I managed Amazon accounts, ranked listings, and boosted sales for some major brands and I have a lot of experience managing and growing an Amazon business. My focus is organic rankings and I have an edge in that area specifically while focusing less on PPC etc.
My life was going pretty well, as I was making more from the agency year on year, and making a little money on the side doing some of my own things too. At the end of 2024, the agency owner up and moved countries and closed the business suddenly. He said it was nothing I did wrong but he just couldn't employ me any more haha.
So that sucked, I went from the most I had ever been earning to the least I had ever been earning overnight. I blame myself a lot for that financial situation, as if I was smart I would have been building my own business on the side while managing the agency, but I really felt I didn't need to and the agency would keep growing forever (lesson learned).
That's why my sign up date is 2019, I was looking for things to do on here way back then but ended up simply not bothering and focusing on my career. But now I'm back, with 5-6 years wasted, doing the same thing for real this time.
In the past 8 months of this year since losing my job, I've managed to build up a small range of work and income again with the focus on being getting back to a reliable income - I do freelance organic ranking campaigns for Amazon sellers, and get a few of those per month. I manage a couple Amazon accounts full time for a % of sales. And I also do SEO/blog posts for a few websites. It has gotten me back to a decent-ish income, but I have made the decision never to have a job for a boss again, and instead to focus on making my own money online through various sources.
My plans are-
-To keep freelancing for Amazon sellers and find an easy way to keep getting clients and leads. Probably Reddit, LinkedIn, and potentially even the marketplace here once my account is established enough. At the agency, we got most of our leads through Google rankings and content marketing, but that seems a very long term difficult process nowadays.
-To use my income from freelancing for Amazon sellers to buy inventory and launch my own Amazon products one by one over time
-To use my background and connections in the trophy industry to start selling to sports teams and schools etc online
- To start promoting affiliate links and to figure out an effective process to make extra money from this
- To partner with other people who have great products where possible - I am already working on preworkout gummies with an award winning bodybuilder, running gels with a popular running company, and sustainable handmade rugs from Kenya.
It's a lot, and I need to focus on one thing at a time and realise that none of this will come quickly. But I hope this site will be a big part of the journey, and that I can help people here in turn.
