Okay , Just a Suggestion and a request .

I have a ton of useful Courses that are on Dropbox . I Want share them with the community
Since I have learned a lot from it. ( lurker from a long time )

But I don't think Dropbox is allowed in the member downloads ?

Please if you can mods , add Dropbox as a platform to share !

It'll help !

Zippy works fine, at least in my opinion.

Try downloading something from ZippyShare from your mobile browser. You will most likely end up with some VAS activated for nothing.
It's virus!!! I request the mods to kindly take a look at the sites again.

Dropbox might max out after a x number of downloads.

It’s also against the DB tos to share stuff that you technically do not own the copyright from.

And then there’s the issue of privacy.

Got you totally , guess I'll have to upload em to zippy or mega and then share !

Yepp I know but the problem is that BHW people share a lot of gem stuffs and I am not always around my PC/Laptop. When I am back to download it later, it's already gone lol.

I think the issue with dropbox is not being able to do virustotal on it?

You could check the sha256 or md5 from VT against the download, but for the average user this will turn out to be not very user friendly.

There are some very huge files in the download section with no virus total with a warning to scan locally. So I think that should not be an issue.

Virustotal is mandatory now on BHW

You don't run a VT on a download link, that'll just scan the lander. You have to upload the file.

The problem with Dropbox is of course the contents are not static. You can swap out a legit file for an infected file.

Nice reasoning. But aren't all file hosts this way? You can pass a scan, reupload the malicious file on any service.

With others, the link changes. You can't maintain the same identical URL with a replacement. With Dropbox you can have a folder then swap out anything in the folder.

I did not know this. Thanks for the heads up

Apart from the security concerns, Dropbox requires signup, without that you can't do anything. We might as well request Google Drive then, but we have 6-7 allowed file hosts already, it's not like there's a dire need for another one.

That's interesting and very subtle. I doubt average users notice this.
