Hey guys

I just joined the other day but I've been reading here for about a week or so.... I'm so new to all this it's almost like learning a new language, but I'm going to keep reading and hopefully it will start making more sense soon. :)

Anyway I just wanted to say hi. This seems like a great site to learn from so I'll be sticking around awhile!

Larry

Welcome! :)
Absolutely no probs in your sticking here anyway! In fact, we all are doing it for over many years too on this great site... :)

Welcome and enjoy your stay.

Thanks
How long did it take you guys to start understanding everything? Right now when I read the methods people list I get lost about halfway through them. :( So many new terms to learn and software I've never heard of before lol I just learned about scrapebox the other day and really have no idea what it does :P

Welcome to BHW.
Stick around and you will learn lot of things, just stick to what interest you the most.

Start understanding everything? I don't think anyone can learn everything that's to be learned on BHW. Take one thing at a time, the one that you think you can handle it much easier than any other thing. Then accumulate knowledge. Work on basics and get hold of the basics first. See what you need to understand the basics... what tools you need, what are different steps you need to know and work on, what twists could make the described method more workable, how to try it out in many different ways, what could be the hurdles, how would you tackle them, would you need to outsource some of the steps, etc. etc.

Nothing is simple in the initial stages. Once you get the hold of the things, you move towards some success, then achieve some failures, then more success, then you're a pro because by this time you know almost everything about "your" method and how to run it. Remember learning to drive? This is almost same... in a way. Being receptive to new ideas, being PRACTICAL in working them out, and taking corrective actions are the keywords here...

Unless you're real lucky, there are no easy ways, or 1-step shortcuts to achieve success online where you've infinite known and unknown hurdles and competitors to overcome and beat. It's also not so difficult that it will take a lifetime. Success can come within 24 hours if you find the best route to it....

Don't treat this learning as the same as you learn in a school. You use logic a lot more here and your intuition as well, as you go on learning something, because IM'ing is more of an art than being a science, imo.

Thanks for the response! I'll have to keep reading before I narrow down exactly what I want to try.... that will be hard because I'm interested in all aspects of im. :)
