First, a bit about me - I am noob404, a Linux enthusiast and a part-time webmaster.

I recently launched a URL Shortener that takes a novel approach compared to the existing ones. I would like to post about it in the Making Money section. Can some mod confirm if it's OK!

@noob404 It is not clear to me from your post if you want to sell your product (URL shortner).

If that is the case then first of all you need to upgrade your account to Jr VIP or Marketplace seller to be able to sell on BHW. Here is a detailed information on how to do that - https://www.blackhatworld.com/account/upgrades

You also need to make sure that your account is free from any warnings to be able to sell on BHW. So please refer to the marketplace rules for sellers here - https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/bhw-marketplace-rules-and-how-to-post.203/

I would also recommend you to read the newbie guide to learn the basics of BHW forum - https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/newbie-guide.242/

And, as for your question, no, I am not trying to sell the URL shortener. It's a free to use service that lets users add their own ad codes in. I just want to post about this on BHW, so members could know about this new URL shortener. I did go through the guides mentioned in the introduction DM, and couldn't find anything against posting about this. But, I just wanted to confirm with a mod. Can I go ahead and introduce the URL shortener and its mechanism and the procedure to join the Beta under Money making section?

Hey man, welcome to forum. As others mentioned, you need to have a Jr.VIP account if you want to promote something or have a signature in your posts to promote your short-link gen.

Thank you for confirming. But, it still isn't clear, as I am not trying to "sell," just introducing my Shortener and its functioning method.

Even if you are planning not to sell it at this point, but eventually it may turn out that you will change your mind in the future and make it available commercially. Not saying you will certainly do that, but this is the case with most of the product launches.

Otherwise what is the purpose of painstakingly developing this tool?

For this reason I would suggest you to go by the marketplace route since the very beginning. For that, as I have explained above you will have to upgrade your membership and be eligible to be a marketplace seller. We have a section where sellers can ask for the Service reviews and Beta Testers to review their product before the launch which you may find useful in your case.

Still if you really want to give it back to the community then there is a Free Giveaway section where you can share this tool, but remember you have to follow the rules and guidelines of the Freebies / Giveaway section.

If you are still unsure what to do then please reach out to support for further assistance.

Thank you yet again for the reply. Currently, I lack the budget to get Jr. VIP. But, anyways, this isn't a service that I am looking to sell or one that's sellable. It's comparable to a GPT site. I hope you get the idea. Anyways, I will also try contacting the support using the link you supplied. Appreciate it.
