Lately I have seen here a lot of posts where people are whining that they can't even afford to buy a domain...
So here's a place where you can get one for free

http://www.register.com/promo/acquisitions_8772090537.rcmx?trkID=SEMJ78Vw4W
Want to start your IM career really for FREE?
Here you go hosting as well,
Go to
Hostgator.com , chose any plan you like( even reseller)
and when checkingout enter the coupon
and you will get your first month of hosting for FREE!

And here you go! A way how to start everything without spending a Dime!

remember... with register.com, it's one domain per household.
so don't do too much.
they took away dozen of my good and developed domains.

Didn't work

Works. I just purchased domain from them. Free for 1 year

Sounds nice. Even though they charge $35 for the domain, this deal is still great assuming that person who is willing to re-register the domain certainly finds the domain of worth more than $35.

Nice share.

Great It works. I got the domain .net very quickly (No credit card, I have used paypal account for $0 payment). I look in to whois and my name is there as registrant. Not only that but It is also possible to transfer it to a free host. (freehostia.com) Now I am waiting for it to propogate.

And if you don't want to pay the whole $35 maybe you could transfer the domain before the end of the year, right? If not, then I wouldn't do it unless you really, really need it and you don't have any money. Take in consideration that before 4 years pass you'll be spending over $100 per domain, whereas with a normal registar you'll be under the $40 mark. Nonetheless, this is a great contribution OP.

When registering you can actually check off the autorenew option, I also see an option under domains called transfer, though I am not sure if they will let you a free domain. But in the end you can always cancel and renew on your choice.

I would say go for it if you don't have the start up costs, because in a years profit on any remotely successful site will be well worth it. And if you can't transfer during the free year, and want to 100% hold on to the domain, 35 bucks for 2 years isnt horrible.

no you can get still for first year with coupon code:
Code:
FIRSTYEAR

re the Hostgator Bit

the coupon 'jury' gives you a 0.01 (one cent for first month).
I've just used mine on the 'Baby' package. (usually 9.95)

Have fun

Yeah it's dead now... afaik?

I tried it the very first day when you posted it and was able to register one domain, except I was just trying to see if it worked so I chose a random domain.

Well, stupid me since it was like you said one per ip. So I head back with a proxy and now it doesnt work anymore :/

My fault for being ignorant I guess but yeah, it seems that they changed the free first year domain to be instead of your first year free with no strings attached, it's now your first year free when you order 2+ years.

Thats why some of you who are getting the "It doesnt apply to items in your cart" message, it's because you probably selected 1 year hosting, thus the coupon can't be included until you select 2 + years, then look, you will get $35.00 aka your first year free.
