Ok so I have no problem connecting through all the free proxies.

What I would like to do, though, is connect through my VPN. In order to do that I have to connect through 127.0.0.1:8080 as well as a login and pw.

When I go in my xproxy.txt file and enter just 1 line for login_name:mypassword@127.0.0.1:8080 I get the following:

    1. When I run hrefer it is pulling links fine but it says in the proxy column only "login_name:80" and that's it
    2. At the bottom of hrefer it says check internet connection and firewall settings.

Any ideas since I am still grabbing links?(I dont' think my VPN is being used though and it is resorting to my personal IP.)

when you want to use a VPN you have to set up a new connection in your OS´s internet settings.
the VPN is not just a proxy for one program, it´s a tunnel for all your internet connections, means all your traffic is routed through the VPN.

yeah I know how that part works but I am actually able to run it for just specific programs that I want.

I just enter in my username:pw@ip:port and it connects to my VPN which randomly changes IPs every 2 mins or whatever I set if for.

I do this with scrapebox and BMD with no problems at all. Just can't seem to get it right with this.

I appreciate the help. If you were to use just a regular private proxy in hrefer would you not just open up the xproxy.txt file and input it like this?

    login_name:password@IP:port

I found that when I input it like that and run hrefer it doesn't appear like that in my "proxy" column. It shows just an abbreviated version like this:
login_name:80 which is not even the full port number.

Maybe there is a certain way it needs to be entered?
