Hi BHW, I own an Instagram theme page and I sell shootouts very often
So as usual, this guy DM me and wanted to buy a post for 24h + link in bio and we agreed to a price
He PayPal me the money and I posted the picture as he requested + link in bio. And I deleted it after 24h. Now, he is probably angry that he didn't get any sales and asked for a refund claiming that I deleted the post 10 minutes after I posted it, which isn't true.
What can I do? I answered in Paypal saying that he can't have any proofs of that because it's not true and that I have prints of our conversations.
This is the first time this happened to me but I'm sure some of you guys are experienced and know how to deal with this type of situation, so I have two questions:
1 - What else can I do to win the PayPal case?
2 - How can I prevent this type of situation in the future? Should I tell them to pay through friends and family?

In order to win your case, provide them detailed information about what all happened. And it should be backed by proof with all the screenshots, attached files etc.

Regarding your 2nd question, yes, ask clients to send payment as friend and family or personal payment. It lowers the risk substantially but don't eliminate it.

You can also ask clients that you prefer other forms of payment like BTC, skrill, payoneer etc.

Doing business with digital goods needs you to capture evidence as a daily routine

I disagree with this, looking in from the buyers perspective, they (myself included) would never want to buy a shoutout through friends and family. Ultimately the likely hood of a buyer charging back is less compared to the likely hood of an insta page scamming.

Thank you for your answer. So, if my clients send me the money as friends and family they can't ask for a refund?

yeah, I thought about that. but I've sold multiple shootouts and advertisements so I can provide them proof that I'm legit. I'll probably start doing that.

Whether its just me, but even if I was provided proof of previous shoutouts I would just never go with friends and family. I would recommend you just keep proof/evidence of each shoutout you do incase the low chance of the buyer charging back happens.

Lesson learnt I guess.
I have two more questions.
1 - I don't see any option in the PayPal case to attach pictures, so can I just add links (prntscr.com/...) in the message or what would I do?
2 - I don't have any credit card in my PayPal. Can that become a problem? For example, can they block my account money?
Thanks again

Can't disputes be opened on Skrill and Payoneer?

1) yeah, you can add images from hostings, but I think this part of the dispute is only between you and the buyer.
2) I think the money you received is being locked unless you have a fund now PayPal account, but I don't think u have. PayPal should have stated it if they locked your monnie

Update:
That was fast, PayPal closed the case and I won.
Thank you guys!

Great to hear that. Congratulations. What information did you send? And what reason paypal cited when they closed the case in your favour?

Hello friend, my advice is as follows.

1) Present in detail in the dispute to PayPal captures that demonstrate that an exchange was made with that client you mention, if possible show captures of previous work with other people so that you can certify that you are a person who does your job.

2) To avoid these situations in the future, I advise you to take a screenshot of when the 24-hour period begins (or publication time) and another when you delete it. Something you can also do is send it to the client, with a message like "I just published your post, so from (time) I will delete it. Then, when it is time to delete it, also send a message saying" The deadline has been met time, I will delete your post, thanks for hiring me, etc).

This is my little help tip, I hope other members can help you even more!
