Help with looking over my website.

Hello I recently created a website and would like some feedback and what I can improve on! The website is www.thepetreviewer.com. I have purchased some backlinks but what else should I do? Do I need to purchase some more or do some other types of SEO. Thanks for any feedback!

You have about 100... you need to research how your competitors get away with such high match counts without being penalized for keyword stuffing. Then you need to incorporate many of those tactics. So basically you need to put about ten times as much effort into your content and on page tuning... without getting penalized... AND once that is done you will need backlinks using those target search terms... also without getting penalized... And you need to survive a year to see the effects of that effort. It is doable but it is going to be quite hard. You might find faster/easier success with a lower competition keyword, but that really depends on what your goals are.

The keywords you gave me are not the ones I am trying to go after though. I understand how hard those are. I am going for smaller keywords that are related to that topic. Everyone of my articles is based on a different keyword that is easier to do. Is this how I should be doing it? Or am I doing something wrong? Thank you!

I would add in more content on the pages really on the home page seems to be all just images there

Well all of those photos lead to my articles, otherwise it would just be blank with the article title. What else should I add?

During this initial phase your best bet is to add in more content. Doesn't matter what keywords you target right now.. because later you can edit the post and add in your target keywords.

The question isn't about how often its about frequency! If you are able to post 3 per week then do that way.. else 1 per day. The posting frequency must be consistent.

Is this Wordpress ? what theme are you using for this site?

Yes, of course, you need to build more quality links by the way you can keep adding the quality contents on your website. Before that check your website has been optimized well to the search engines.

Not too much content as for me, you should add more for sure.

The keywords you use the most on the page ARE the keywords you are targeting. So if you aren't targeting Dog Toys on the home page then what are you targeting because that is another issue.

There is nothing wrong with your website. It looks nice. If I was looking for this content you're website would suffice. The SEO work you need to do on each specific page is largely determined by what keyword each page is targeting. Every keyword has different requirements for the degree of tuning you need to rank well. This degree of tuning is determined by the amount of tuning your keyword competitors have done. In a nutshell, whoever is willing to grind the most into content, SEO, and marketing for each page wins the rankings.

The shortcut I have learned is that the stronger your on page tuning is the fewer backlinks you need to build later. On page efforts are usually easier and faster than off page efforts so on page SEO should be done early. You don't want to do to much on page work. You just want to be in the ballpark of what websites on page one are doing then switch over to building authority with quality backlinks.

Here is a thought experiment for you:

Which should rank higher for the search term "Apple Pies":

• A web page that is only about apple pies
• A web page the is about lots of different kinds pies: blueberry pies, pecan pies, chicken pot pies, apple pies

The answer should be obvious. This determination is called relevance. Most algorithms for relevance use some incarnation of the rule "whoever says it more is more relevant" which is why keyword stuffing works and why to this day Google has to police for it with manual penalties.

I wager Google's algorithm looks something like this:

Ranking Score = Authority * Relevance + Special Conditions

This would also explain why doing a great job on page can minimize what you need to do off page.

Right now your page appears to be about dog toys. If I can't figure it out I wonder if Google can get it right either?

Ok I understand that. But I have an article about reflective dog collars and that is the keyword for that article. Are you saying just cause my homepage is about dog toys my article which is about reflective dog collars won't be able to rank for the keyword reflective dog collars? It's seems hard to be able to rank my homepage but I feel like I can rank the separate articles for each articles keyword correct? Thank you for the help and info.

The URL you gave us to look at was the home page. The home page appears to be tuned for dog toys... if that is not your intent then there is a problem there. Your article on dog collars is on a different URL which is tuned differently, but it still suffers from the same problems like your page 1 competitors having 10X the number of matches per page. If you don't want to fix that just know you are going to need a whole lot more backlinks to compensate for it. While the degree of tuning required changes from keyword to keyword you still have a lot of the same issues from page to page.

Thanks. And for the record I like the site. It is a nice looking site that I would have no problem using if I needed the content... I am only commenting on the measured difference between what this site is doing versus the page one competitors... that is the bar.

Thank you for the info! But how can I fix it? What exactly do I have to do?
