    Hey All,

I've been more of a lurker than anything else on this forum. Just wanted to ask a few questions though. I have an IG account that I started in 2010, I've grown it to around 85K followers, most of them are legit, I've never botted or bought followers. I experimented with buying likes, didn't really do much though.

I've recently had to put my account on private as I've been targeted by bot accounts. So far I have blocked and reported (manually) over 20,000 bots. Is there a way to get removed from the lists that these bots follow or to block them for my account
I'm making really good money from my account (full-time income) but bot followers are killing my engagement rates and I'm starting to lose business as a result.

Any ideas? It seems pointless having bots follow me if I'm just going to keep blocking and reporting the accounts.

You already seem to have stopped bots from accessing your account. Keeping your account private eliminates bot accounts. Bots can only follow and like what are public.

But it's not possible to have your public account inaccessible to bots. They will target big accounts, they will follow your followers, they will like all your pictures. You can do one little thing, though. Stop using hashtags. If you stop using them, you will see a considerable drop in likes. This is because you get those likes from bots that target hashtags and like pictures expecting a follow back. If you don't mind losing a few likes, go ahead and do it. There's nothing you can do about bot followers other than making your account private.

I only use hashtags for the campaigns I'm working on at any given time, usually the hashtag is a brand new tag for that campaign, so unlikely to attract bots. Just sick of the fake accounts, ruining the entire IG experience for everyone, it doesn't take all that much effort to grow a big account, just post great or good content regularly. I've been earning a full time income from it since 2013 now. I don't care about likes from bots, I need real engagement.
