Hello! I am not sure which section this belongs in, so I apologize if it is wrong.
Recently a friend sent me a link to a file that they swear is safe but when I click to download it my computer has a possible virus warning. I scanned it with Malwarebytes and it came up with some sort of "Backdoor Agent" trojan. Is there anyway that someone could double check the file for me, or at least recommend another place to scan the file? I know the person so I am not exactly sure if they are being truthful or are they seriously trying to infect my PC. Thanks for any help or suggestions!!

Hello skylfc:

Try Downloading and installing http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/. It is fully functional for a free 30 Day Trial.
After the trial period expires, you can manually run it for malware and trojans, but it
will then only DETECT if you have any malware, etc. and it will no longer run in the
background. It is quite powerful and I have seen it detect/fix/remove some types
of trojans & malware that were missed by some other protective software.

You can run it along with your existing virus scanning/anti-malware programs without any conflicts.

Another option is to use Virtual Box. Everytime I have to treat with viruses I use this program.

I hope this helps.

I understand you seeking help, but you should respect BHW enough to know that
sharesend is not an approved file sharing site in BHW,
and although you were not sharing it as such :)
it would be best if you would edit your thread to refelct the potential danger of the .exe
since no vt scans posted either.
