Help - Website traffic stats

I'm sorry if this thread is posted in a wrong section, moderators feel free to move it

My website got suspended today by my host with an explanation that it overloaded their server. In the last hour before it was suspended, they said there were about 40K hits and about 10K of unique visits during the last 10 hours. Now they are suggesting that I should start using a VPS hosting or the website will stay offline.

The thing is I have a counter showing different stats and my adsense account shows only about 3-5K pageviews per day. Can anyone explain why?

I mean if I have more than 10K unique visits a day, and 2 ads on every page (250+ pages), the account should show a lot more than just 3-5K pageviews right ( and of course a lot more money on my account )? What am i missing here ?

What do you track traffic with? Look in there and see where it is coming from.

With statcounter. From what I can see, the traffic is coming from normal residential addresses (mostly US,CA,AU,UK), not bots or spiders.

Instal GA. And some CMS could overload a server especially WP

Using stat counter and it says that I have around 4k uniques a day and around 6K pageloads. And yet in adsense i get about 2.5 times smaller number. Any logical explanation other than the visitors are using a software that blocks the ads?

check first if some of relevant to you bots is blocked and remove it. 99 % of bots will be redirected to google.com or site of your choice and you will have much clearer picture about your traffic. All those crawlers and stuff blocked in the script will be redirected and your traffic will be enough unloaded so you can keep the current hosting plan without additional paying.
