I got this website that I can't seem to figure out what could be wrong. I have been working with SEO ever since I got here on BHW and I can rank websites in 3-6 months' time. It may not be top 1 but it will surely rank and gain some traffic. But this time I can't just rank it.

I threw in a few hundred links some pretty sure good links, guest posts, PBN. Some expensive hr PR, guest posts but this shet won't rank after 4 months of working with it.

I'm so confused about what could be wrong with it... It got ZERO traffic from search engines and a few hundred traffic from the direct traffic from the links I bought.

Note:
No manual actions from the GWT. Anyone got an idea?
Not a super hard keyword. Ranked top 1 on this keyword before (different domain - old and penalized website)

Let it bubble away for an extended period, and move on to another project. Thats all I can ever find is possible when this happens

How old was the site it when you bought links 4 months ago?

I let it old like 3-4 months before doing any backlinking.
Yeah, that's way too young, your website is still in sandbox. You should have waited for around 6-9 months when you begin seeing hockey stick-like traffic growth in your search console. Building links without consistent traffic and social signals is extremely suspicious in Google's eyes. In fact, sandbox exists for the very reason of discouraging black hat SEOs from ranking new sites. The website may still be able to rank though, but it may be tougher than if you had just waited a few more months. Also, please note, I don't know the full situation so this may not be the case.

Probably sandbox or some algorithmic stuff. Is your content unique?

I’ve had sites where google just does not like them for some reason. I’m still sitting on one after about 4 years that I’ve not done anything different to compared to other sites but it won’t appear in the top 100.

^This. Sometimes Google just doesn't like it and that's it. Been there, and just decided to fuck it and leave it instead of wasting 6 more months.

ohhh... hmm okay okay... thanks for the input. Well, I guess ill forget about this website then... what a waste of juicy backlinks...

try to run campaigns on some of your pages/posts... Also try to boost your social media accounts it might help with your SM presence. either way you got to try something else

That was just another suggestion, it doesn’t mean it is what has happened to you. Your site might pop next week or in another few months.

If you have invested time and finances, perhaps waiting a while is better. What about starting a similar domain, similar content and seeing what happens to that one? You might ,after a few months, find it reacts better without links.

Then you have more options, start a fresh with the new domain. 301 the old domain to retain your links. If there is a long term drop off then remove the 301.

You used to be able to 301 redirect to something like a weebly. Add no index/ follow to that weebly to allow the link juice to flow but filter out any penalties.

Keep adding more content and slowly build links. Build links to homepage and some inner pages too.

Do not kill it tho, leave it be - in some of the next Google update you may got a nice surprise. :)

You should start working on other project and just keep tracking this one.

Actually did you guys know about the EAT ? that might be wrong with it

there might be several reasons for such a problem and nobody can just find out with little information,
you can hire someone to make a full SEO audit for the website and figure out the possible problem,
you can pm me the website URL and I'll take a quick look if you don't mind

This itself already explains it.
From what you have mentioned, 100% sounds like you have been sandboxed.

Now days, It's you wouldn't want to throw backlinks on new sites right away.
Slow, steady and solid foundations is where we are heading towards.

Your not going to get much help without posting the domain.

I've seen people who have said the exact same thing, they send me their site and they literally have keyword stuffed everything possible. Some people had no content at all. Some completely and utterly fucked their anchor text ratios.

Not saying you've done any of those, but you get the drift.

There's hundreds of possibilities, and we can't provide a good analysis based on a few sentences.

You say hundreds of good links? Define "good link" because I've seen people think high DA links are good when they were clearly penalised with traffic crashes.

I recently had someone trying to sell me a backlink on we7.com/

Looks good at first glance, 70k traffic on Ahrefs, 120k backlinks. Looks pretty sweet.

Until you start looking at it's history, it went from 5k traffic, to 700k traffic back down to 70k traffic all in the space of 5 months. I asked the seller for a screenshot of the manual actions section in GSC. That was the last contact I had with him. He completely ignored me.

Even if it wasn't penalised, still look dodgy af to get a 100 fold increase in traffic within 3 months, followed by a 90% reduction of traffic in the next 2 months. Clearly they manipulated it for traffic and got caught pretty quickly by an algo. Not a backlink I would ever want linking to my site.

What about your position? It isn't ranking at all or does it appear somewhere?
