    Hello guys,

    Here is my problem: I got my account suspended on my Low Cost VPS because I was causing troubles for the other users.
    My budget was very low (~ 7$ a month).

    Now I am thinking about upgrading into a real VPS or a small dedicated server.

    My short list is:

    Bermanhosting VPS:
    BMH.jpg

    Kimsufi Dedicated Server:
    kimsufi.jpg
    12€ is like 15$

    I really feel like Kimsufi has a killing offer, but less CPU than Bermanhosting.
    However, it is a dedicated server, meaning I won't have any problem with other users on the machine.

    What do you think ? If you have some other interresting services around 15$ a month, let me know !

    Thx to all.

    it depends on what you want to do.
    i don´t know bermanhosting but i had the smallest kimsufi dedicated server myself and it was more than enough for my needs.
    will re-order it soon when i need it again.

    I am doing all kind of SEO things (webscraping, API uses through PHP) and need a good Mysql database.
    From what I have seen, I mainly need RAM.

    Tweak the MySQL not to use too much RAM, here's how I configure the /etc/my.cnf file:
    Code:
    [mysqld]datadir=/var/lib/mysql
    socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    user=**********

    log-slow-queries = /var/log/mysql-slow.log
    long_query_time = 5
    skip-innodb
    skip-locking
    skip-bdb

    [mysqld]
    local-infile=0
    skip-locking
    query_cache_limit=4M
    query_cache_size=32M
    query_cache_type=1
    max_connections=300
    interactive_timeout=100
    #wait_timeout=100
    connect_timeout=10
    thread_cache_size=64
    key_buffer=16M
    join_buffer=1M
    max_allowed_packet=16M
    table_cache=1024
    open_files_limit=5120
    record_buffer=1M
    sort_buffer_size=2M
    read_buffer_size=2M
    max_connect_errors=10
    # Try number of CPU's*2 for thread_concurrency
    thread_concurrency=4
    myisam_sort_buffer_size=64M
    tmp_table_size=64M
    max_heap_table_size=64M

    [safe_mysqld]
    err-log=/var/log/mysqld.log
    open_files_limit=8192

    [mysqldump]
    quick
    max_allowed_packet=16M

    [mysql]
    no-auto-rehash
    #safe-updates

    [isamchk]
    key_buffer=64M
    sort_buffer=64M
    read_buffer=16M
    write_buffer=16M

    [myisamchk]
    key_buffer=64M
    sort_buffer=64M
    read_buffer=16M
    write_buffer=16M

    [mysqlhotcopy]
    interactive-timeout

    [mysqld_safe]
    log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log

    pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
    On the thread_concurrency make sure you know how many cores you have access to. In this case it is set for 2 cores, but if you don't know how many you have access to then just run:
    Code:
    grep ^processor /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l
    and you're good to go.

    For VPS providers - I see that your budget's around 7$ so why don't you check some of the offers listed on lowendbox.com, there are tons of providers and more feedback from real clients, so you won't go wrong. :)

    Hope this helps!

    I am using for the last 4 months an comapany called Prometeus, you can check their site at:
    Code:
    http://www.prometeus.net/sito/
    (I am not affiliated with them just a happy customer )

    Never had any downtime, fast servers, great support and cheap prices. They also have an dedicated mysql server for a cheap price. Check them out.

    You are still looking at cheap options and there's no guarantee they'll be any better. I'm on Linode and paying $20 for 512MB.

    Ok, this thread can be closed.
    I just bough a special offer from kimsufi:

    Dedicated server in North America with:

    Processer Intel Atom D425 1.8 GHz (512 Ko de cache)
    Architecture 64 bits
    NIC GigaEthernet
    RAM: 4 Go
    Storage: 2 To

    for: 187$ a year -> 16$ a month.

    They have tons of DS left ;)
