Help Unlocking a Win 8 Desktop??

Hey I have a HP WIN 8 DESKTOP needing unlocked.It was my grandpa's and he was an engineer & taught classes in engineering.I am trying to pull off all data on drive and then wipe pc clean.Any help???
I have no reset disc and I called a pc repair store and they want to charge me $30 just to wipe and start clean with new os? any suggestions on what I should do.

There are lots of ways to do that.

Method 1: Make a bootable Windows USB and boot PC through that. Reinstall OS without formatting the drive. Then go to the windows.old folder in your Windows partition and you can access your files.

Method 2: Make a live bootable Ubuntu USB drive. Choose the option to try before installing. Then open disks and mount the hard drive. Then insert another external harddrive and copy all the files from internal HDD to external HDD. Then shutdown and install Window using bootable usb.

Method 3: Take out the HDD from laptop and connect to another desktop PC with extra sata cable. Copy file and format it. Then put it back to laptop and install windows using bootable USB.

You can actually make a bootable disk to change the password without actually needing the password. Make sure you read everything on the page to avoid any errors, especially the part about the EFS encryption. Having hard time getting into boot mode?? on win 8 and im pressing f8.I got it to pull up once but then it went away?? any comment on what to do?

You need to turn off secure boot in your BIOS to boot outside of windows.If your BIOS is locked you need to unplug the computer remove the cmos battery .Their is cmos clear jumper on the motherboard you can use a screwdriver to close that curcuit to discharge the cmos to reset the bios.

You can do this easily with Hiren's bootable cd/usb
