Make auto blog and set it to post to few twitter profiles.
Build those twitter accounts with targeted profiles adding people from big sites (those who follow big sites in the same niche).
You will get nice traffic on your auto blog and the rest is up to you to monetize it (adsense,list building and then affiliate...).
I'm using this method in few techy niches (iphone,andorid,webmaster...), but you can choose anything else.

unlike an email, facebook, and craigslist posting
you have to realize you don't have the undivided attention of each person following you
couple scenerios:
you post tweet with offer/link
50% of followers aren't online by the time they log on
your offer along with 300 other tweets are off their radar
scenerio 2
you tweet
they are online
now you have roughly 5 second to capture their interest
my tips for how i do it
1. creativity ..... something boring something that looks like a blatant cpa won't get clicked by humans often ..... make it interesting make it fun
2. be active - most of my users are now using the RSS - tweet feed to setup a few RSS feeds to tweet out jokes or facts or some other random things that get the tweeps interested.....schedule other tweets that aren't offers
3. sprinkle the offers in a play it as a long term payoff you may have 10k targeted followers but for each of those people to actually see your offer 1 time in their timeline if something like10 offer tweets a day for 6 months for the number to play out
so while the traffic and people can be very targeted it a long play

First off, before you even think about making money using Twitter you have to developed a nice, niche related following.
This works out better than diversity most of the time, seeing how people wanting to go see what there highschool buddies are doing aren't going to click an offer about CB products, much less buy them.
Once you have a nice following, with people communicating with you, or about you, then start to push products, or offers.

Two ways I make money on Twitter... And yes, I do extremely well.
1) CPA offers via mention tweets. For me, the trick has been to find extremely relevant followers of someone's account that seems like a NATURAL for the offer I'm promoting. Once I find the match, I use TweetAttacks to blast that offer from 50 or more Twitter accounts. All Twitter accounts look natural i.e., profile, pic, and some posts. All Twitter accounts are aged. All Twitter accounts use a real email address. HINT: The more accounts you use to spam these offers the BETTER and more time you can use in between tweets. HINT: Find at least 2 or more offers that can be promoted to the same niche of followers... This will help keep your accounts living a little longer. HINT: Use as many url shortening services as you can find. Again, this helps keep your SPAM Twitter accounts alive as long as possible.
The SECRET -- at least to ME is in the tweets themselves... They have to seem natural. They can't be perceived as spam or promotional. HINT: Analyze random tweets from ANYONE with a decent following and see how they tweet. Figure out how you can KEEP the same natural sense of the tweet but with the addition of a shortened url.
Know up front that you are going to lose accounts as you keep spamming Twitter... It's an occupational hazard -- nothing you can do about it but keep on creating new accounts and keep on spamming.
2) I've actually made some decent money by doing the exact same thing above but instead of promoting CPA offers, I've promoted ClickBank offers instead. HINT: Mention tweets to IM followers utilizing the actual product name and other SEARCHED FOR KEYWORD PHRASES that people use to find that product. Why? Because I've had plenty of people buy from my shortened URL and they actually found the tweet either in Google OR a search in Twitter. HINT: Make sure you submit your bogus Twitter account FEEDS to RSS aggregators. People are in fact searching for all kinds of ClickBank products every day -- 24/7 utilizing many different variations of keyword phrases. Find out what they are and create your tweets accordingly. HINT: IM followers are used to promotional tweets so that is fine but I've experienced higher conversions with less spammy/promotional mention tweets.

Since i use tweetadder3 too i can find out active users in a location, which is a added bonus. For now i'm promoting a Farmville product, one of the most addictive game on Facebook. Time to work on my bots.. none of them look real.
