[HELP] Should I Buy This Domain

I have been doing keyword research to start my new blog.I have found a keyword with
2,900 Exact match monthly searches and 2400 local i.e US searches
CPC is $2.03
Competition for exact keyword is 98,900
The website that is currently ranking on 2nd postion has exact keywords with hyphens in its domain.It is 1 year and 2 moths old and has only 68 backlinks
But there are four .edu and three .org websites on the first page of google for this keyword..this worries me.

Please suggest me whether I should buy the exact match .net domain for this keyword or not!!

Are the edu sites targeting the keyword in their title?

Don't worry about org sites, they do not hold authority like edus.

Other than edus on the front page it looks like a good keyword. Most edu sites don't know/care about SEO so it is likely that you can overtake them with some strong links. If their blog pages are ranking then you might be able to get comment links to your site.

The exact search look pretty low 2900, Even if you get 1st position you 60% of 2900 and - hypen website mean it will be less than 60% of 2900.

You didn't gave information about:
What is the price of the domain.
1. if its above $50, and the keyword is not a Buy keyword, just go for new domain name, you can get hypen domain name for even keywords with huge search volume.

2. you said you want to start a blog, if it personal blog don't go for hypen domain name, it will back fire you in long run, as you put both time and money in it

3. tell us what kind of keyword it is, product keyword or just information one. if Edu sites are listing in google then it could be a information keyword right.

I'd skip hyphens if you have a choice.

Also the most important thing - do you know how to monetize it? I've been sucked into buying domains that look great but who cares if you have a website on the first page if you can't get any money out of it?
