Hi,
I have a young blog in the health & wellness niche. I’ve been all over the place in the direction of my content and I decided I’d get focused.
My initial plan consisted of writing content focused long-tail keywords but I eventually became uninspired as the topics were so fine-tuned due to the nature of the keyword.
I was also motivated to monetize the site so I thought I’d tackle some amazon affiliate type posts but became hesitant going too heavy here as my long term plan is to establish myself/site as an authority.
After some reading, I determined I’d focus on head keywords and write some pillar posts and write content on related topics that point back to the pillar post.
One area I’m unsure about is the keywords/posts that point back to the pillar content. In my case, the pillar piece is an article about the “causes of back pain”. The article covers, in summary, the different types of “causes of back pain” ie. lower back pain, mid-back pain, etc. along with treatments.
In supporting posts, I was planning on writing articles related to “causes of back pain” like “exercises for lower back pain”. In the article, I’d re-explain lower back pain, some of the causes, and ultimately link back to the pillar article.
Should the link to the pillar piece specifically contain the pillar post keyword of “causes of back pain”?
Should I have internal links pointing from the pillar piece to related posts and, if so, what should the anchor text look like?
…I’ve also decided to approach the content from both sides by outsourcing amazon affiliate posts and leaving the authority type posts to myself.
