    Hello BHW,

I have a client who is having a online shopping site and I don't know what keywords to focus on...
    What should I do?
How should I get more traffic to his website?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Target the products they are trying to push that get good monthly searches.

    Focus on GMC...

How to rank the keyword in short span of time.?
Everyday the client comes up with a new product....
Ranking products like mobile phones is very tough. It can take months...

    BTW what is GMC?

Make him understand that YOU DONT OWN GOOGLE. This is a common problem, even our company's ceo keeps giving new keywords every now and then and one day I told him that I dont own Google :p if you want quick results use Adwords.... I still have my job though :D

Is this new product a product is already available in the net or he created completely new product that isn't available anywhere else?

If it's a mass seller of a wide variety of products, you're going to need work hard to get general, popular keywords ranked. Use a tool like Itches for Niches
or even Market Samurai to find niche keywords to focus on.

You're not going to get into a popular industry and start dominating overnight. Use a drip-feed method - your client is going to be in the industry for a while
(hopefully) so you won't want him being deindexed for a sudden surge of spamming.

Consider focusing on Social Media for this sort of market, make special deals/vouchers that can be unlocked once the FB page is liked, tweet special deals
    on a daily basis, etc.

GMC is Google Merchant Center, basically when you search for a product on Google, these products will show in Google SERPs - something to consider when wanting
to rank for brand names etc. :)

I recommend targeting keywords that sre specific but still get decent search volume. if youre doing mobile phones.. instead of doing mobile phone, do something like "buy motorola razors" or "samsung galaxy online" ..

    good luck
