Hi fellow BHWers!
I'm having a bit of trouble with the homepage of my website and was wondering if you wonderful people would be able to help - a little bit of background about the page and my aims here may be helpful:
I started this website primarily as a MNS Amazon Affiliate site at the start of my SEO journey, long story short - it looks awful - it was built using a default wordpress theme and I hate the look of it - and until recently, have ignored it.
After getting a bit more experience over the years in SEO and realising that this site is starting to gain me decent earnings, I have decided to throw some more time into growing it's authority and start by changing the theme - here lies the problem:
I own many sites now, all amazon affiliate sites in different niches that have a decent theme and look great - but all have a static customizable homepage, which I love. The homepage of the website in question is a blog post, as mentioned earlier, it was primarily going to be an MNS as one of my first ever SEO project - but I hate the look of it.
I am looking to change the theme of my website and adding a static page which will be the domain name - for e.g. www.bestpotato.com, however, the current blog post page is ranking for my main keyword - so my question is this (I have a long winded way of asking a simple question >.<):
Is there any way to change the permalink structure of my current blog post homepage -
www.bestpotato.com
to something like
www.bestpotato.com/best-potatos-2019
(essentially turn it to an inner-page), BUT without 301-redirecting my main domain name and link juices from www.bestpotato.com to www.bestpotato.com/best-potatos-2019 - as I need visitors to still be able to access www.bestpotato.com as that will be the static customizable home-page (to look like this - essentially https://imgur.com/a/2MGsInU) - shoutout to colormag.
Please also bear in mind that my blog post home-page has relatively decent links flowing through and is ranking well for my main keywords, so maintaining my rankings is crucial here. I wish I had the hindsight to change the permalink of my blog-post home-page to www.bestpotato.com/best-potatos-2019 to begin with, therefore freeing up my home-page domain name, but unfortunately, due to being a massive noob, mistakes were made!
This may be an incredibly simple fix, but I have been awake for 20 hours now and I genuinely can't think straight - apologies for the waffle, just wanted to give a decent amount of context
