If i buy a domain that does not have any keywords in it , for example

(it a random one). Then i write a post in it for acne disease , ex -

and try to rank for the term acne disease against my competitor ex:

or

SO WHICH ONE WILL RANK FASTER AND HOLD THAT PLACE? (keep in mind that i will build good backlinks i.e linkpyramid only to my targeted page)

If you build BETTER backlinks than your compeititor, and have good on-site SEO, you can beat him. EMD is just one of many SEO factors.

Don't worry about EMD, just build better backlinks than the EMD and you will outrank him

not having the EMD isn't the end of the world, its just one of the things that can make your job a little more difficult with out.

I would look at your competition and see what kind of SEO they have going. If they have a shit ton of backlinks and perfect onsite done with a EMD, I would move on to another term.

That means we don't need 15 mns, even 1 website can have the power of 15 if we build perfect backlinks and have good on-page seo.
Am i right?

You are correct, although they are two different strategies, some people like to invest time into building 100 micro niche sites, and some like to invest in a handfull of authority sites.

I kinda like to do both

good backlinks and good onsite optimization is part of it, its always about being better then your competitor. And to make your website relevant to whatever your offering.

If you competition has 500 social bookmarks, you wanna do 1,000!
If he's missing the keyword in his title, you better have it.
Etc.

I think your question is not very correctly defined. But let's say the only case in which your competitor should have an advantage just because of the EMD should be if every other factor concerning your site is the same like yours. And the chance for this to happen is about 0%.

I use to spend a lot of time and money to get the right EMD for all my sites. I had about 150 different domains and I am down to about 25.

I have studied and studied the SEO on and off page regarding exactly what you are asking.

In my opinion and the facts which support it, you can have a domain name that doesn't even have a word in it and rank better than an EMD "IF" you do everything else the correct way.

I say go for it and you will be pleasantly surprised!

Thanks SEORocks, i will go for this and build an authority site with proper on-page and off-page seo instead of buying 10-15 domains.

Plus, all the time it takes to find good EMDs and maintain a large number of sites could be better spent focusing on making one site really good. Also, domain purchasing and renewal costs.

The cheaper route is to buy a .com, .net or .org EMD, if your goal is to write from 5 to 15 pages of info to rank a 2k to 5k per month exact match keyword with low competition on a budget. It will take less links and less of your effort to rank (saving time and money).

If your goal is to build an authority site like you said, that is different than the concept of an EMD. The EMD technique is used to nail one keyword. While you can certainly turn a great ranking one keyword EMD into an authority site ... if your goal from the beginning is to create an authority site, EMD makes very little difference.

When I hear authority site, I visualize like 50 to a few hundred posts. If you plan on getting that much content on a site ... the overall benefit of ranking for an EMD is greatly reduced. In addition, most EMDs are not great for building a brand (exact match keyword .net or .org, if you're trying to build a brand, they'll end up at the .com and you won't be able to establish a brand).

So of your goal is to hit an exact keyword and rank #1 for it with minimal effort and then move on to the next site, EMD is the only way to go. If your intention is to put your heart and soul into a site, dumping tons of content into it ... forget getting an EMD and instead get a quirky, memorable and brandable .com name ... even if it has no keywords in it.

quality will always rise, build high quality links and you can certainly outrank and EMD
