HELP! Proxies just don't connect??

I've been trying to connect proxies on FireFox but they just don't work. They're not paid ones, a couple from various sites and also from here. I'm doing everything the wiki tutorial says (even checked out some YT vids) and applied the same method but once I click OK and then try to go to a website I get the error page ''The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.''. Over and over...if anyone can help i'd appreciate it!

What are you trying to do with the proxies? Sounds like you are using regular ol public proxies. A lot of them probably aren't going to work. Using something like scrapebox, or any other tool that can text proxies would be a good first step before trying to use them in firefox.

You gotta check them first, preferably multiple times and pick the ones that work. You can use scrapebox to do that or buy a service on fiverr.

Are you trying to use http or socks proxies? That could potentially be one issue, although more than likely it's as the others have stated and the proxies just aren't alive anymore. There's an add-on/plugin for Firefox that you can use called Elite Proxy Switcher that makes it one click to switch between proxies and your regular connection. It's a really easy to use and simple little plugin, I really like it. Just remember to leave the http field blank if you're using a socks5 proxy. If you're 100% sure you've got your settings correct though, it's probably just a piss poor or flat out dead proxy. There are some online proxy checkers that you can use to test real fast if you don't have any software to do so, or actually if you search around a little bit there's only about 1 million different free proxy checkers available. lol. Probably just going to have to try a few out till ya find a semi-stable one to work with. Good luck though and hope ya get it.

if you are using private proxies, have you set up your proxies/proxy authentication ?

Probably the proxies are not working anymore, this is common with public proxies. I suggest you spend a couple of bucks and get some private proxies which should be guarantee to work. The proxy you are using is dead. You should test the proxies by Elite Proxy Switcher before using them. It's because public proxies are unstable and die fast.

or make sure they dont need IP verification that u forgot to add ur ip at

That's why they don't work because they are not paid proxies, Get ones that you pay for and you will be fine.
