Hi,
I am looking to host a website that I am going to start. I have already bought domain names from namesilo and have been trying to find a web host.
I have done some research and I know (somewhat) what hosts not to go with (eg. EIG sites), but I don't know which one to go with. Good ones I've heard of so far seem to be A2, Dreamhost and Namecheap. I think I read somewhere in this forum that Stablehost just got bought over by a corporation and might have a drop in quality. I have also checked out the marketplace in blackhatworld but the variety, combined with my lack of experience and knowledge confuses me horribly.
Here are my website requirements:
My budget is about USD5-7/m.
My site would just be a blog with articles and some pictures that go with the articles. I currently don't need video, though I might want to add them in future (I would probably have to upgrade my hosting plan then, but it won't be in the near future). I also would want to get involved with affiliate sales/dropshipping/Adsense (is adsense still worth doing?) in the future.
I had planned to use Wordpress, but I stumbled upon Sitemap as well, so it would be great if I could get some suggestions that support both, or either or. I don't mind using Wordpress as I am interested in learning how to code on a basic level too.
Please let me know if what I am looking for is realistic within that budget and if I have missed out any form of information or mentioning any required specs, as I am not very tech-savvy at this point. I don't even know what cPanel is yet.
My questions are:
1) Are there any quality hosts that meet my requirements?
2) Also, are there any good or reliable sites that anyone can recommend so I can learn the technical terms used on these web hosting sites?
