Hey guys I'm new here, so first off sorry if this is the wrong section, but I have a couple of questions. To start off I've been reading forums, blog posts, and watching videos about SEO and now that I feel I have a good understanding I want to jump into it but just need help with a couple things.

1. What is the best legitimate way to build backlinks? I have been creating the free wordpress blogs pertaining to certain keywords and then linking my website with anchor text on there. Is there a faster, more efficient way?

2. What software, or plugin am I able to use to get an estimate of how many times a keyword is searched?

Any other tips or advice you have is appreciated, thanks.

I'm going for less keyword competition right now, maybe 25-50 searches a month? Trying to get my foot in the door. With that I am going to target small local business to try and sell them/rent them too. But first I want to make a couple BS websites to practice ranking and making them look good.

1. You should not be manually building web 2.0s. Use fcs networker or something so you can make hundreds in the time it takes to make one. In addition I recommend building PBNs. Look for expired domains and put links to your site.

2. I would use google adword planner. Google knows best. Plus I like being able to see the CPC for the keyword. Typically high CPC keywords are good to rank for because otherwise people wouldn't be bidding so high for them.

I've never really understood PBN's. From my understanding this is how they work, correct me if I'm wrong. We'll say im targeting a pool store for a local area. So I would find expired domains with keywords pertaining to pool's with high PR and non-spam links. I then buy those domains and link to my desired website that I want to rank?

You have the basic idea. The one thing you left out is that once you buy the website you have to add content to it. A lot of people will hire article writers to write 5ish article per PBN. In one of the articles, there will be a link to your money site.

At this moment they are the most powerful tool in the blackhat SEOers toolbox. The way I see it, your ranking is proportional to the quantity and quality of PBNs you have.
 
I havn't been on BHW much lately so what is a PBN. I tryed searching but it says no results, but i keep seeing it in use i am sure it is just a term for something i have practiced!!! But What is it Peanut Butter Network?

Wow, you obviously haven't tried hard enough. You basically want someone to spoon feed you links. Jesus christ! A member from 2012 can't find any results! wtf!
 
have you read any guide before? what you know about on page optimizing?
 
I did not want to be spoon fed links.

I wanted to be spoon fed the meaning of PBN.

Don't listen to him, he's trying to make you look silly. You had it right the first time, peanut butter network, 100% correct...it's called that because the rankings really stick.
 
You are right. I troll most threads.

You should really listed to members like Not Ste Hughes and Mickyfu. They will share the secrets of the ever illusive Peanut Butter Network. Word on the street is they can build a Peanut Butter Network for you and make the posts 'stick' to homepage for $50 a link.
 
question one, for a also newbie in the industry seo. i have to say there is definitely no faster way to get your a high rank in the limitation time, the key point you must remember is that content is the king, so try you best to post more content in the form or blog site
question two, i usually check my keyword rank in the goolge, so i nearly do not use any bot or any software to help me to check the rank, of course, you can give me some suggestion, welcome, if you still want to find some software or bots, maybe whitehatbox is the way you can find what you want. leave me a private message
 
1. yup, link building is faster and efficient way. Do with high quality links of niche relevant sites and unique contents for a keyword

2. google adwords planner is the best to find the number of searches for a keyword
