Help on email marketing vps

I need ypur help.

Last week I decided to try email marketing. Even a total newbie on it I decided to go for it.

I acquired a vps for email blasting with pmta from a vendor. Despite the fact that i do not know how to use it or how it works, i jumped into it knowing guidance is just around this community -bhw.

Now there are few questions that i would like to confirm as i think the vendor is squeezing some money on me on his services.

1. If i already get a vps with interspire, do i need to get another vps for the pmta? Or it can run on the same vps? I mean just single vps together?

2. If the IP of the vps has been banned, is it possible just to replace the IP address without getting a new server?

3. For additional IP address that you get (new monthly fees) can u use it to other purpose? I mean can you get its details from the vendor? Because i paid for it, i should have the rights to use it on other right?

no only one VPS is enough it only depends on its RAM and hard drive ! and your IPs can be whitlisted... we can do it ! and also which level of VPS do you have ? and how many emails will you be sending ?

1. you can run pmta and interspire on same machine.. I am doing that for all my clients without any problem.
2. Best is to buy extra ips and rotate in pmta. if your ips get ban then you can ask for replace but I do not think many server provider will allow this.
3. When you paid for ip ofcourse you can use it for other work but before using them read terms of condition.

What happen is i first get the vps with interspire.

Then it seems that the ip has been banned not banned on some isp but not all.

With this happen, i just ordered a pmta to be installed in my server with additional ips.

In this case, this will work right? The rotating ips of pmta will be used.

My question is:

1. Will this be ok? I mean since the vps server ip is banned, the ip of pmta will be used to send email right?

2. No need to get another interspire server?

3. Will this work?

1. yes , you can send emila by different ipfrom pmta , IEM version
2.no need to get another version

I have install PMTA in my server but i don't know how to config smtp to send mail from may application?

I'mnot really familiar with PMTA but im reading up on it.


I can tell you about the IPs tho. You do not HAVE to get a new vps if your ip gets banned. With that said unless you are paying for BP hosting, if your ip gets banned your account will get terminated inmost cases.

When ips get banned, This is due to complaints. Most hosting companies will terminate your account before it even gets to that(3 complaints in a short time will usually do the trick). If you have some type of relationship with the hosting company 9 times out of 10 they will make that clear before hand. Most of the time a deal will be worked out.

They will allow you to mail to your "opt-in list" understanding that even with a double opt-in operation, complaints are still a possibility. They will allow you to mail till your account generates a few complaints before they terminate it and allow you toget a new account.

Sometimes they prefer you to get a new domain as well. You have to remember that when ips get reported, actions need to be taken to show the RBL companies they do not allow spam on their networks. If they allow you to continue to mail.If you keep getting complaints and they do nothing about it. They will black the whole class that ip sits on. And if still nothing is done it will only get worse.



Did you say you are trying to mail out 500k a day ?

I read about PMTA and have a little experience with interspire. From what i read you can run both off of the same host.

Seems like a good solution but pretty complex. Also, just my opinion but this seems like something someone would be running on if not one dedicated server a few of them. I see it says things like "millions of emails a day" i'm sure the software is capable of reaching those numbers but are you sure this is exactly what you need ? seems like this solution is for people who are streaming live feeds of fresh emails each day from multiple sources.

You said you were knew to this. Think maybe there might be something a little simpler for what you need to get done ?

may i ask a few questions ?
Are your emails coming in live each day and require a complete tracking system from origin to delivery ?
Are you buying your lists in large files and would just be mailing them out ?

I think where you are getting your email lists from pretty much determines what type of sending system you should use.
