Hi Guys,

I have a client who has an eCommerce website.
The items that he is selling are not really viable for normal SEO techniques.
As in ... AdWords etc.

Onsite SEO is fine - I use Attracta on a weekly basis for him.
I'm after some blackhat methods of getting his website on page 1.
For example paying one of you lovely people for a zillion backlinks.

Will check out the backlinks.
Is there anything else you would suggest?
Budget is around $1000 at tops for client.

Obviously you can't give idea of price it'd cost without keywords ...

Don't do anything.
Read about SEO first before you do anything else.
What you ask here is nothing but irresponsible.
You won't help him with "zillion backlinks".
You will harm him and his site and if worst comes to worst you destroy him his whole ecommerce business with your imprudent plans.

I'm not an SEO expert.
I'm his web-dev; and am doing his SEO at VERY low cost.
My off-hand comment about 'a zillion backlinks' was a joke and an offhand comment.
*Sigh*
I know backlinks can be negative.

Sorry, i didn't want to hurt your feelings.
It was not clear for me that it was a joke, especially not when you ask for blackhat technics to get to page one.
And from your post history obviously i can't get an impression about your level oft knowledge.
I just see you are new here and these kind of questions are asked here in a serious way and without being a joke each day by newbies.
Anyway, if you don't know what exactly you do (again, especially when it comes to blackhat stuff) don't do it on clients websites.
You can do more bad than good with it.
Or at least be honest and tell him that you are no SEO expert, tell him about the risks and about what can happen and let him decide himself if he still wants you to do the job.

Don't worry about it.
Takes more than that to hurt my feelings!

He literally has NO visitors at the moment so it can't get any worse.
He isn't even indexed on Google as of yet so we're starting tabula rasa!

either take the time to learn how to properly do what you got paid to do, or give him back his money with an apology
this is the sort of thing that gives all seo professionals a bad name
 
How do you know on page SEO is great for a fact?
 
I think if it was me I'd just concentrate on getting him traffic. Have you looked at Facebook ads? You can set up campaigns with targeted demographics. Could be worth a lot more to your client than organic search. Definitely worth checking out.
 
I have used a mixture of Clearspike and other tools to check his onpage.
Will look into Facebook ads!
