Help on a VPS I have

So I got myself an unmanaged VPS, big mistake. I want to use some of the IPs that came with it, I'm just not getting this to work out well. A lot of this terminology is new to me.

I was said from my host to install Kloxo, and so I did. I tried to access it from https://ip.port, and the username and password I was sent didn't worked. I open a ticket, they tell me to recover the password (what?). I download putty, establish a connection, a command line opens, and nothing happens, it does not respond to keyboard. This has been a nightmare.

Is there a way to use the IPs in an easy way or a VPS guide out there?

centos, debian, windows?

what the propose of the vps?

I have CentOS installed, I just want to use the VPS for the IPs for now.

Just tell me, the ips is for?

mailing, proxy, another?

do you have any control panel on your vps?

when you ssh to you vps dont appear a prompt?

try write on putty ssh [email protected] where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your ip and tell if the machine request the password

I have HyperVM but can't access Kloxo (username and password wrong - what heck of a host). The IPs are for proxy usage, yes.

in the consolessh in HyperVM, pressed enter for each line, no fireworks though. Just tested it by browsing with one of the IPs on firefox and it didn't worked. Is there something else I could or need to do?

@zongoneri: When I go through SSH (putty) the command line shows but it doesn't do anything else, meaning, when I type it doesn't write..


EDIT: Update: I managed to get into Kloxo.

One of the easiest solutions to get your IPs accessible through your web-browser I'd suggest installing polipo on your box.
Maybe it's already up there, otherwise just google "centos polipo" for instructions.

Once installed you config it to bind on one of the specified IPs (you can see available IPs through the command "ifconfig") and listen on a specific port of your choice.
You config your browser to use them (http proxy) on your ip/port.

Make sure you protect the access to it, polipo has afew authentication methods you can activate.

How do I install polipo?

Well, I went into Kloxo, into IP addresses, and there's no option to use the IPs myself.

I've managed to install cPanel on the VPS through a couple of lines of command on the SSH console*. However none of the following locations work to access it:

https://your-ip-here/whm
https://your-ip-here/cpanel
https://your-ip-here/2086
https://your-ip-here/2083


*Here's how to install cPanel (if your host provided you with) on a VPS with centOS. Put the following in the SSH console. Copy and paste, and press enter on each line:


Then, to access it try any one of the urls I posted above, for example: https://your-ip-here/whm
