Help needed

Hello guys,
Obviously, I'm a newbie and I'd like your help.
I am working on ranking my website higher the past 3 months. I improved the titles and descriptions at the beginning, then some link-building from free sites and some social networking.
This helped ranking from page 20 to page 6 for my keyword with a medium competition. Then I left it for a bit and found it after a week on page 4.
Now the website ranks page 5 on G (top2 on Yahoo). I noticed it went up when I didn't do anything, but now started going down again.
Shall I leave it as it is and see what happens? What's the best thing to do now?

Its may be for Google algorithm(panda, penguin). Or you do not post update content anyway. Keep regular posting and give extra concern to social marketing. If you don't updated regularly Google bot filtered as spam web.

Thanks for that. Is there anything else to do other than updating content?

I will suggest to you, keep update with content, if possible to you , you start image promotion that's very effective for long time stable ranking.

yeah well said .. u ll get more traffic frm social media..as compare to other things.. penguin actually changed a lot of seo .. u have to rethink on ur working style.. hopefully ur web ll up soon
