Help needed! Won exp.domain on auction, not sure if worth it

Good day guys.

So yesterday while deciding should I start my autoblog on new or expired domain, out of the blue, I end up at NameCheep auction. To tell the truth, I never had bid on auction before, but I saw good looking domain - toppetlovers.com first registered 2016, auction ending in 20 min, and price around $60. I start to bid, adrenalin going and I end up winning at price of $350.

As it was that short time till the end of auction, did not had time to check properly, but now not sure if to proceed with paymant or give it to the second highest bid. Or buy it, rebuild the site and sell it. Dont know...

First of all, don't share your domains publicly. You wouldn't post your address or your nudes, would you.

Second, the domain is, or rather was, a not-so-good attempt on a money site - https://web.archive.org/web/20220118131837/https://www.toppetlovers.com/
It's backlink profile is completely artificial with mostly web 2.0, some bad directories and terrible anchors. Basically a backlink profile you can create in a day for $5.
The domain used to rank relatively okay, but it got killed by an update in mid-late 2018. Since then it was just dropping.

Third, do your due diligence before bidding. "Adrenaline flowing and going all hail Mary" is really not an approach that will get you far in internet marketing. If anything, you seem like a pefect target of an internet marketing campaign.

Fourth, the domain is meh. Is it worth $350? Nah. Is it worth that much less? Nah. Is it penalized? Most likely not, nah. All in all, this could have ended far worse.

Still, the old site got penalized for a reason an it's up to you to find that reason and fix it. I am fairly sure that those $350 could have been spent better.
